I just filled my own stocking

Inspired by that Saturday night live skit where mom gets a robe and nothing in her stocking, I just got myself some awesome gifts from Amazon! Mom will not have an empty stocking because I just got myself a yeti coffee mug, cute socks, Lilly Pulitzer pen set, Vera Bradley notebook, a meditation journal . . .the lord helps those who help themselves. What gifts did you buy yourself this year?

Chocolate covered cherries - the cheap ones sold at cvs.

Always have to fill my own stocking because if I don’t, kids will wonder hey santa forgot me.

It’s ridiculous that moms end up with empty stockings because they are the easiest to fill! Candle, new socks, chocolate, coffee or tea in a new mug, done.

So far all I have for my husband’s stocking is pencils (he’s an engineer and adores them) and good coffee beans. I should give him a candle.

I'm a single mom who fills my own stocking every year. Usually mostly candy, but sometimes lotion or lip balm or scented candles.

Usually DH fills mine but this year in the pandemic I’ve actually given him ideas or bought a few things myself. Stuff I might have purchased anyway, but that will fill it. A particular hand lotion that I wanted, for example.

I haven't bought myself anything, but am saving for a dog. Who knew it would be so hard to get a dog? In my state your choices are pretty much chihuahuas, German shepherds, cattle dogs or bully breeds. Nothing wrong with any of those if you have the lifestyle and space for them, but I don't. So--that leaves purebreds since the dogs that would be a good fit for the average apartment dweller get snapped up the same day they become available. Maybe the universe doesn't want me to have a dog, or maybe I'm supposed to wait a while longer, but that's what I'm putting my personal Xmas funds toward.

Er... how big are your stockings?

You're talking about the gifts under the tree here.

My daughter figured out that I stuff my own and took over doing mine when she was 10.

I can't remember! I know I did buy myself some stuff at CVS and I got some fancy carmel sauce. Oh, and I bought some candy but I ate it already.

I bought chocolate mint candies that I’m the only one in my family likes.

I told my DH last night that I’m tired of doing my own stocking and he better take care of it. We’ll see.

I hung mine up and pointed to it a few times. Spouse and kids went out this evening.

We're DINKS and he always gets me nice presents but my mom still handled my stocking (normal years, we celebrate as extended family). this year we have been doing this ridiculous charade (that we are both happily participating in) where I drop stocking worthy things for me in a tote bag in the corner of the living room and he can "shop" from it, but I don't know what he picks. It's wacky, but it's working. It's just going to be the two of us at christmas and I want no reason for anyone to be disappointed (Beyond it's 2020). There are a few things that are standard stocking sutffers that I don't feel like getting and I have made sure that he knows and he seems to get that it is important for him to go and handle so we are both "surprised" on Christmas morning (scratchers from the gas station etc)

Normally DH & I fill each others, but Covid & only online shopping so we did our own. I got myself a book, dark chocolate peppermint bark, and cozy socks.
