Weighted blankets useful?

I have anxiety and keep seeing these advertised. Do they actually help? Feeling skeptical, but curious.

I know a bunch of women who swear by them. I have anxiety and asked for one this Christmas. The research has been promising, read Wirecutter and some other roundups online.

OP, I had considered putting up a similar post because I have also heard good things about weighted blankets. However, I am slightly claustrophobic, so I wondered if such a blanket would have the opposite effect on me. I never like to feel closed-in or confined.

Mine isn't weighted but I sleep with a very heavy quilt and then a heavy comforter over it. The weight is what really puts me to sleep. I've tried others and can't sleep until I put the heavy ones back on me.

My kids both have weighted blankets so their blankets don't fall off as easily.

I’m laughing at this post a little bc I bought a weighted blanket bc I have trouble falling asleep ... my husband laughed at me and said I was a sucker for marketing etc .... he tried it one night, he now sleeps with it way more than me. He said it gives him the best night of sleep ever. He has no anxiety but it helps keep him asleep. I also like it, but it’s not as dramatic of a help for
Me as it is for him

Any great recommendations?

I love my weighted blanket. I can’t sleep without it!

My DC with anxiety likes it. DC doesn't use it in bed, just as a calming blanket while sitting on the sofa, studying or whatever.

I have anxiety and I love my weighted blanket. I also have covid at the moment, and sleeping under the weighted blanket helps alleviate my anxiety about that.

There are a ton of options online. I bought one for about $80 from Amazon. I’ve been coveting a beautiful knitted weighted blanket that keeps popping up in my social feeds but it is like $200.

My DD with anxiety has one. Really helps. She has restless leg syndrome too and it's great for that.

PP heathy thoughts your way! Is the anxiety of COVID or COVID worse? I often think my anxiety of having COVID might be far worse than actual sickness .....

Hope your weighted blanket gives you rest and peace !

This is also my question!
I’ve considered it for restless leg syndrome but I have the same claustrophobic/confined issue PP mentioned.

I love my cotton blanket from Sensory Goods. The weight feels good and doesn't make me hot.

Maybe I'm an outlier, but also claustrophobic under treatment/meds for anxiety and panic. Let me shout from the rooftops: LOVE MY WEIGHTED BLANKET!

Then again, I recall loving the feeling of wearing the heavy X-ray apron at the dentist.

Start with a throw. Think of a weighted blanket as just one of your tools in your toolbox (I also have a light box, Xanax!, magnesium supplements, sleep with my window cracked year round).

One honest drawback: it can be incredibly hot, so I often end up tossing it aside when I'm half asleep. Also, have not figured out how to wash this (I guess only spot treat?)

I have one. I don’t sleep with it regularly but I do break it out if I’ve had a very bad day and I think my racing mind will keep me awake.
