I may be misunderstanding, but it now sounds like principals are now drafting Term 3 plans for their own schools and submitting them to DCPS for approval, right?
Our elementary school had grade-specific meetings this week, and I was just curious if other schools did the same and how those meetings went? To be honest, I left our grade's meeting confused about what our school wanted or needed from us, what was even possible for them to do, etc. Just wondering about others' experiences! |

DCPS has the authority to assign students back. They should have done it back in August and should do it right now. |
Call yesterday with Deal Middle School indicated that considerations for return in Term 3 are only for Wednesdays for extra support, and only for a relatively small percentage of students IF this plan goes forward. |

Maybe we're at the same school, but we had discussions this week at a staff meeting and in break out groups and will meet again next week as a staff. We also talked about it yesterday at our Tema Meeting. There seems to be some confusion about weather 3 of the 4 plans require silmulcast lessons, and how much variability we have on that front. My team seems to be leaning towards sending 2 teachers in who agree to go - they want to work together so as they aren't planning alone. And the other classes will continue DL together. Also I found out our school isn't able to do CARES, just prob 1 or 2 classes per grade (but not all grades could have 2 classes for space reasons). It seems like our principal is letting teams pick what model works for them - but we will see if that holds true when it comes time to submit our plans formally - and what kind of green light, or not, we get. |
I thought the requirement was a plan that supported at least 25% of the student body in the building. Why are they even bothering with the survey if they already know the plan? |

So two teachers will teach 11 kids each in person -- what happens to the other half of their classes? Will they continue to teach them virtually (which seems really, really hard) or will they be taken in by the classes that are staying all virtual? |
| ^^ absorbed into the other classes -or- they also get to go in but each group gets 2days in person 3 virtual (mix of live and asynchronous). These are just thoughts from my team FYI. Not Dcps plans. |
Does “being absorbed” into other classes not strike you as unfair to both the absorbed and absorbing students?! I don’t understand how that problem always gets dismissed as with a wave of a hand, as though solving a problem for 11 people justifies any amount of burden placed on lots of other people. |
