GOP Strongholds in MD

I know that people vote, not trees or poultry, but it's interesting how much of Maryland votes Republican. It's not something you'd necessarily know from the tenor of the posts on this forum.

1 it shows just how much of the MD population is urban.
2 it’s actually a lot bluer than most states.

Posts come from people, not land, so why wouldn't you expect them to reflect the opinions of the people? Even the parts of Western Maryland that are decently dense, like Hagerstown, are pretty blue.

Maryland is very similar to the US in this way. Land doesn’t vote in either. There are very few people in the GOP strongholds. Garrett County has never voted for a Democrat for President but there are only 30,000 people who live there. There are 60,000 people just in Bethesda.

If you post a similar one for Virginia, it would demonstrate just how much, on balance, Virginia has become more Blue than MD.

A good US example of this phenomenon: the number of people in North and South Dakota is equivalent to the number of people in Manhattan north of 84th Street and south of 84th Street.

Virginia got so much bluer from 2016 to 2020:

Maryland’s blueness comes from rich, right-wing (in the original sense), metropolitan types.

And 70,000 in my Silver Spring zip code.

This isn’t a Maryland forum, it’s a DC metro area forum. If you look at the map to which you linked, the general leaning of this website isn’t a mystery.

Or my favorite: Los Angeles County has more people than 40 states.

what's the "original sense" or right wing?

Vast majority of people in MD are not rich, but they vote left. So, I am not sure what you are trying to say here.

Virginia got so much bluer from 2016 to 2020:

Is this the 2020 general election for POTUS? Wow, what happened? I keep hearing from Trumpstes that Trump is more popular now than 2016 so there's no way he could've lost.

It’s the shift from the 2016 general election for President to the 2020 general election for President. Trump definitely did not get more popular among the vast majority of Virginians. And if you look at the shift in almost every other state, it’s the same. Florida was one of the few states where he improved. Here’s a list of all the certified results:
