Do you think VA needs to go back to phase 2?

Or at least have stronger target restrictions than we do now?

I do.

Phase2?????

How about back into lockdown. That would make lot more sense. I’m really wondering WTF Northam is doing. He’s in some alternate reality of something.

VA still has one of the lowest infection rates in the country, which is a bit surprising. I think Northam still has his head on his shoulders.

Phase 1, phase 2, or lockdowns.... none of these are going to stop people from having gatherings in homes, which is the main source of transmission in the surge. It's not outdoor dining, gyms, playgrounds, or any outdoor recreation.

If you are high risk, you need to isolate yourself.

Free country and all that. Move to China if you want a lockdown.

Okay then tell that to the school districts. As long as they can't open, something needs to be done.

China isn’t burying 4,000 people a week. They stopped their pandemic.

There’s what all your freedoms do for you. I’m sure the 300,000 of our dead wished they were living in China instead of here.

+1 and I think Northam knows this. It’s an inconvenient fact. You can shut everything down and go back to phase 0 or whatever and it’ll help, to an extent, but won’t reduce transmission to near zero. Because people will congregate privately instead. And unless you want the police and national guard forcibly shutting people in their homes, there’s really no enforcement mechanism. The best we can do is a mask order (already have it), close indoor dining and bars, close group fitness classes (I think individual workouts on treadmills and weights and stuff can still happen at a reduced capacity and physical distancing), and heavily encourage telework. And that’ll only happen if the hospitals start to get overwhelmed.

They stopped nothing. Just stopped reporting. Numbers there were likely in the tens of million cases.

So how did they get such low numbers when the rest of the world got different results? Argentina locked down for 2 months and cases are spiking there?
Simple, they just stopped reporting just like North Korea has zero cases, suuuure.

I don't. Many school districts aren't open because they're too scared to try. Sorry but it's true. My kids' private has been open since early October and they've been handling testing, positive cases, etc very well. They're back in school today.

I am high risk. I am keeping myself at home as much as possible. We didn't travel for Thanksgiving. We didn't host anyone either.

They can open. That’s not on Northam. What needs to be done is holding school officials accountable for not properly educating students.

We need something more: next stage or lockdown. Only way to get people’s attention.

IF Fcps isn't going to open anyway then I'd like a lockdown of bars/restaurants etc. Let's share the misery and force everyone to suffer. Why should the kids be the only ones trapped at home.

I think the revised CDC guidelines to only needing to quarantine for 7-10 days (based if youre negative on Day 5) will help.

People are more likely to follow quarantineing for a week than the old standard of 2 weeks (which most people thought was overkill especially if you're Negative and, obviously, no symptoms).

I can miss a week (5 business days really) or keep my kids home for a week. Doable. But a whole 2 weeks (a very long consecutive 14 days) is daunting and leads to resentment especially testing Negative.
