LCPS Superintendent leaving for Houston suburb school system which is open

Well this is interesting. Clear Creek is open 5 days a week.

And he already promised them in a town hall that he won’t close their schools.

He left as soon as that 20k bonus hit the account!

Feeling equity’d yet though!?

I don’t blame him. I’d get out of here too. Going somewhere where the community clearly supports schools must be very appealing.

Ah bummer - he was the only rational one in a crowd of Brabrands and Smiths...I was hoping he would put pressure on those two politicians. Alas, good in Houston to see leadership and take it.

My spouse is doing the same thing. He earned it and has a better job offer, why shouldn’t he go? Same for Williams. You can’t be mad at the guy for taking a bonus he earned and then bouncing outta northern Virginia. He’s just one of the exodus the entire education system will experience after this year.

He was such a failed leader. He could have opened schools in August in hybrid. He and his lazy team thought it was “too hard.” Just the latest in a long line of lazy terrible failed leadership decisions. Good riddance.

Comparing him to MCPS’ Smith, at least he HAD a plan. Our ‘leader’ never even could get to that. Smith STILL uses the pandemic as a shakedown to get more funds into his 5 billion a year coffers. Never let a crisis go to waste, Raymond Emmanuel style. I trust you though...he just seemed so much better than Fairfax and MCPS woke.

Serious question : you think going January to June with an interim and this school board is preferable ? (I don’t fault the guy for leaving I just don’t think people should be so quick to thinking his absence will be better for anyone in the district)

I’m surprised the Texas school district wants him considering he couldn’t get our schools open and they are clearly committed to real school.

PP here. I honestly don’t think it will make any difference. He was ineffective and the interim replacement will be too. Time will tell if the permanent replacement will be any better. I kinda doubt it.
