No one is leaving the NCAA unless the NCAA folds --- which is not out of the question. But if it does not fold then nothing will or can happen. The NCAA will not let someone go someplace else for one sport that it covers and let them stay in other sports. It is dumb to even discuss.

Dude, there is proof that this vote happened.

The NCAA has no authority anymore, the supreme court made sure of that. They are lucky that the SEC and B1G are willing to cut them in at the moment.

First -- there is no settlement -- at least not yet. There will be but we will not know what it means until the late summer at best. So no changes at all for the NCAA.

Second, no one will drop the NCAA for fear of the unknown. Certainly not in soccer. Football is possible at any time.

They just do not care. They will go where the crowd goes.

Thank goodness that discussion is over. BY it is. We’re never getting to 1000 now.

It's tough to keep momentum in lulls between US Soccer meetings for sure and I can accept tangents on NCAA programs.

Is it a tangent, though, if THAT happens and US Soccer stresses BY vs SY for its development windows?

I have heard of colleges speaking with US Soccer about leaving NCAA. This has been happening for a while.

I haven't heard of any specifics. Also I haven't heard if it was for mens only (I assume yes) or for both men's and women's college programs.

Interesting to think about what would happen if a bunch of college soccer programs went US Soccer over NCAA. Would NCAA retaliate? Can they still have women's soccer in NCAA while the men are US Soccer? I guess we'll find out soon.

We are probably inching closer to Grad year

…MLS is BY, US Soccer wants BY. Don’t be an idiot

So who wants SY?

ECNL

Why does ECNL want SY?

ECNL doesn't want SY. The only people who want SY are parents of trapped players that ride the bench. They point to an RAE advantage that Q1/2 kids have over their Q3/4 kids but the skill of truly talented players negates size. These parents are like a lobbyists group in Washington. Whoever screams the loudest and makes the most noise gets the attention. Most of us dont care about the switch because our kids are talented.

Before one of you claim I have a Q1 kid, no. They are Q3 and start on a first team.

Pathetic parent, live your life through your kid. Absolutely piece of shit.

I know...I thought ECNL cared but apparently, they just don't. We can all forget this ever happened.

This forum is the weirdest place on the internet. Anonymous random people come in here and are like "ECNL doesn't care they are staying BY!" but everytime we hear from ECNL leadership all they talk about is SY.

Then people in here give those two statements 100% equal weight. I have no idea whats going to happen because I think theres a lot of behind the scenes power struggles, but like, it's clear ECNL USYS and AYSO prefer SY, they never wanted to go BY in the first place, they all said that, and they do care about trapped players. Whether they can fix it, who knows, but it's not true to say they don't care of have an opinion.

The anonymous person is Jurgen Klinsmann, godfather of BY in America.

I feel 💯 that no one is taking ecnl juts doesn’t care dude seriously and the responses are completely sarcasm, not going with his stupid statement

Yeah the mental gymnastics some people go through to convince themselves that it’s gonna stay BY…when the evidence is to the contrary, but again it’s all gonna be fine.

Different age groups have different dynamics.

For youngers SY or even God forbid GY makes a lot of sense. The games don't matter that much so whatever grade you're in school is the grade you play in.

For olders especially in high level competitive leagues SY doesn't matter and GY would just invite cheating (like you see in basketball and lacrosse with "regraders"). For this group BY makes the most sense because it's easy to administer for clubs and aligns to international norms.

Unfortunately there isn't a one size fits all option.

Yeah align with international norms for the .001% of players that impacts.
