UVA’s campus is average, and Charlottesville is a dump. I know I’m in the majority here on that statement, but I continue to be amazed by people who think Charlottesville is a cute college town.

100% agree on the town. The campus is nice in spots. William and Mary is stunning.

DP. We found W&M to be a very bland looking college.

I thought it was one of the nicest we saw.

I thought W&M was just okay. I give them points for cohesiveness and nice brick buildings, but its campus appears boring and sterile. I’ve been to a number of schools I like better.

Well goodie for you. It's only the oldest college in America and unique in what it offers as a SLAC at in/state public prices but by means continie being a rube!

Agree with you 100% except it is double the size of all SLACs. It is a sweet spot school for many in terms of size. 7,000 undergrad

Agree with this. It's OK but not really deserving of being included on any list of the most beautiful college campuses.

I think it is on a lot of those lists.

USD seemed too fake to me. That style is not authentic to California at all.

Goodness. The PP simply gave a very reasonable opinion, but you sure went off the deep end with your response. And W&M is not a SLAC.

and you are the ridiculous woman who said the same upthread about UVA but then stupidly admitted you like only 5% of the colleges you saw. Let's see where your kid gets in and then we can discuss. Oh! NOW you like UVA and W&M because you can save $200k over 4 years.

Did it ever occur to you that these institutions are public and have limited resources? No, of course not, but then you are the the type if poster who will complain if a public has spent too much on a new gym, climbing walk, dining hall or dorms.

Agree with this. When we toured, my son said why are they making it look like every other college.

Because the founder of Duke, James B. Duke, wanted it that way. He was building an elite school in the south and wanted it to emulate the schools of the north. Duke's Farm's is located in Somerville, NJ, less than 20 miles from Princeton. Princeton's Holder Hall is often seen as a possible inspiration for the Duke Chapel's architecture

Duke didn't found Princeton.

He wanted to give land and change name of Princeton to Duke. They said no.

Is it true he & his brother Luke founded Hazzard?

This is too funny!!! I recognize you from another thread. You get overly invested in threads and weirdly offended by others’ opinions. Also, you are the only one using RUBE. This is an opinion site so…you are going to get opinions different than your own. I think you need to take a break from DCUM for your health. Truly.
