Thee bills that would pass are standalone DACA, Standalone CHIP and standalone budget. The dems don't trust the GIP to bring the first two to the floor (both could have been done any time over the past 4 months, but McConnell refused) so are simply asking for these popular bills to be brought together.

Why is McConnell refusing?

He has already betrayed Sen Collins on healthcare. He is proving to not be a reliable partner in this and it is being exposed, bigly.

I agree. Before we discuss how to reward parents for illegally entering this country by bestowing full benefits on their kids, let's first focus on the wall to prevent more of the same.

If a burglar breaks into your house, steals your jewelry, and pawns it to give money to his kids, would you first figure out whether to allow the kids to keep the money - or would you put a better lock in your door to prevent it from recurring?

Who is monitoring this viral epidemic? I would assume they have been deemed essential. And many researches are dumped down the drain when operations stop. Do the health insurance for fed workers continue coverage?

Is IRS functioning normal? Can we do our taxes.

You’re so hyperbolic. We do not need a wall. We cannot continue to run a government on CR. They have to figure out CHIP and DACA. If the GOP doesn’t have the votes, they will have to compromise with the Dems. No matter how much they stomp their feet and tantrums. The GOP has both houses of Congress and the Presidency, why are they having so many problems with this? 5 Dems voted with the GOP but 5 GOP voted with the Dems. Sounds like the root of this problem is really gerrymandering.

Yes, you can file your taxes and make payments but will not receive a refund while the government is shut down. Yes, your federal health insurance coverage continues during the time that you do not receive a paycheck, although your next premium payment will be large, to cover any missed premium payments. If you use federal daycare, check with them, they may be closed and may require payment.
