Russian prosecutors said they were opening new lines of inquiry against these investors. What Veselnitskaya saw in these steps were alleged tax improprieties that would be a black mark on the Democratic Party, because Browder and at least one member of the wealthy Ziff family had contributed to the Clinton Global Initiative, the person said.

No charges have surfaced in Russia against the Ziffs. Browder called Russia’s investigation last year a politically motivated rehash of old allegations. The Ziff family, through a spokesman, declined to comment. Veselnitskaya didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Veselnitskaya was no stranger to U.S. officials at the time of the Trump Tower meeting in New York. She was a champion of an agenda dear to the Kremlin -- pressing to roll back the Magnitsky Act, a U.S. law that branded 18 Russians as human-rights abusers. It was named for Sergei Magnitsky, a lawyer who worked for Browder’s Hermitage Capital Management and died in a Moscow prison after uncovering what he said was a tax fraud that diverted $230 million from Russian taxpayers into the pockets of a handful of civil servants. The 2012 law angered the Kremlin, which then prohibited most adoptions from Russia to the U.S., chilling relations between Washington and Moscow.

[On another occasion, Veselnitskaya got taxpayers to foot a $1,000-a-night tab at New York’s Plaza Hotel, irking prosecutors in Manhattan pursuing a related tax case. She was also denied a U.S. visa, leading to what she called a humiliating strip search at Heathrow Airport in London.

Translation: lift the sanctions

It is unsaid in all of the denials, but it is core to the Russian ask.

It is why the House hasn't passed the Senate bill regarding Russian sanctions, because Trump doesn't want to sign it. If it passes the House, it goes into law as the vote was veto proof.

That is not what I am saying at all. I am saying Russia is our sworn enemy and why is this attorney allowed run of Manhattan? Seriously - WTF.

She was likely under surveillance the entire time.

As were any U.S. Persons she had "incidental" contacts with. Mueller's dossiers on the Trump Crime Syndicate have to be stuffed.

Obama administration setting up his political opponent during a campaign would be a serious federal crime.

The FBI is independent of the WH administration. Trump doesn't understand this, but most Americans do. Don't you?

FBI is not above the law. They are not in the business of setting people up.

The attorney was at the RT dinner with Putin, seated next to Gorbachev. You know, the same dinner Flynn and Stein were at.

Do you have a link to a photo of this?

Scroll down to the photo of Gorby. That is her, right "behind" him.

Rohrabacher was the other person besides Trump accused by Paul Ryan of being paid by the Russians in the leaked tape.

Actually it was Kevin McCarthy who made the accusation. Paul Ryan told.him to keep it in the family and be quiet.

Thank you! I had forgotten that. Can't imagine how I did, since it wouldn't be the first time Kevin "the Benghazi select committee achieved its goal of sinking Hillary's poll numbers" McCarthy put his foot in it.

Veselnitskaya represented Prevezon, which had been sued by the U.S. attorney in New York’s Southern District in a money-laundering case. It was while she was in that role that she also became an outspoken advocate for lifting economic sanctions imposed by Congress against Russia for human rights violations.

Veselnitskaya’s visa for U.S. entry was denied, but she received special permission — in what is known as a “parole letter” — to come to New York specifically to defend Prevezon and Katsyv. She said in a court statement, however, that when she tried to reenter the United States, she was detained at London’s Heathrow Airport and “unjustifiably subjected to a strip search, for no apparent reason.” She eventually received permission to come to the United States to continue her work for Prevezon.

That set the stage for Veselnitskaya to be in New York City in June 2016, where a hearing related to Prevezon case was being held in federal court. (Prevezon paid $6 million to settle the case in May; Reuters reported that Prevezon said it was a victory because no guilt was declared and the amount was far less than initially sought by the U.S. government.) While Veselnitskaya was in the city, she had an opportunity to try to get her message against the Magnitsky Act to the Trump campaign.

The meeting was arranged by a publicist named Rob Goldstone, who wrote to Donald Trump Jr. that he could arrange a meeting with “the Russian government attorney” who could convey “information that incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.” Trump Jr. responded that “if it’s what you say I love it.”

Then this lawyer violated her "parole letter" by conducting other business in the US. Why didn't Obama do anything about that? Still no answers about who granted the special permission. What circumstance changed over the initial denial?

You cannot be human. Because no human could possibly be this stupid.

Senator Grassley is not human? He asked these questions to DHS secretary in a letter.

The visa for her appearing in court was denied initially. The question is what changes led to a special waiver granted.

I remember the Prevezon case. People were mad that the settlement figure was low, but the government was happy because they just wanted to put a stop to the activity. I'm not surprised that the government catered to Prevezon to give them their desired lawyer for this extraordinary case.

It was settled after Preet Bharara was fired.

Connect the dots.

House Democrats want more info on why this was settled and for so little:

Insane. $230 million tax fraud case settled for $6 million right after Bharara got fired.

From the National Review for crying out loud
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/449401/trump-jrs-emails-high-crimes-and-misdemeanors

The bickering over collusion “crimes” misses the point. If an unfit person holds the presidency, the danger to our society is that he will abuse the power that he wields. The imperative is to remove him from office. Whether, in addition to that, his misconduct also happens to violate penal statutes and be ripe for criminal prosecution is a side issue. It is a subordinate legal question, whereas fitness for the presidency is a core political issue. That is why it is rightly observed that impeachment is a political remedy, not a legal one.

We are a good distance from being able to assess whether President Trump should be impeached. It is specious, though, to suggest that this is not a question worthy of exploration, or that its answer hinges on whether collusion with Russia amounts to a criminal-law violation.

Congressman Sherman just happened to have this photo and is now charging obstruction of justice against POTUS because of firing Comey? I am assuming the "man" is Sherman since this was taken at a hearing from a seated position.

Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

Why do you think she was under surveillance? To make sure she got to her intended target? What the hell is the point of funding your entrapment. This is BS.

Yo PP - Preet didn't submit the resi letter because prevaricator in chief Trump had already asked him to stay on. That would be pretty weird if boss asks you to stay, you say yes, and then submit resignation? But I guess Preet should have known what at least 67% of the population now knows - Trump is untruthful and at least a couple wrenches short of a full toolbox.

Because our IC is charged with protecting our country from known foreign operatives, of which she is one.

Please provide a source that she was invited to this hearing by Rohrabacher because this article disputes your claim.
