Pendulum has swung, gen Z'ers consider it is un-cool and weird to wait until late 20s or 30s to settle down.

Millie looks like a 48 year old divorcee who has been through the wringer of life and seen some shit in recent pics. There's something going on there and it's not good.

I am also worried about Millie. I’m rooting for her, but there’s definitely something wrong.

If you have a Gen Z daughter or niece ask her what her and her friends think of Sex and the City. They will say the women look super old and it’s so sad and gross they’re all single, partying, and hooking up with randoms. Most Gen Z girlies want to be married with a house by 25. That is a real pivot from what Gen X and Y trends.

Was this ever aspirational, though? I was in college during SATC’s heyday and while my friends and I loved the show and were entertaining by it, none of us actually wanted that kind of life for ourselves. We all married between 24-28, most of us have grad degrees and careers in addition to happy marriages with kids.

Delaying marriage, birth control, delaying kids, abortion, promiscuity and hookup culture, undergrad + advanced degrees (fertility prime in academia), being an independent woman, being a girl boss, child free DINK lifestyle, career and office being your "family" has been the corporate and pop culture propaganda pushed on western men and women for the last 35 years. Theme of most prestige TV shows, movies, music, magazines, and social media. Really kicked into gear in the early 90s, ex. "Murphy Brown" in 1992 became a middle aged girl boss single mom.

What exactly is wrong with independence, birth control, and education?

NP. In my mind, Absolutely nothing. BUT, if you DO want children you should UNDERSTAND the facts about fertility and aging. So many people think they can postpone children until they have checked whatever box they need to check. And the fact is that it's not usually that simple.

I cannot believe you guys keep responding to the natalist bs from incel nation on this thread

What do you call it when presenting a fact -
You dramatically lose fertility in your late30s/early 40s - causes an onslaught of anecdotal data to the contrary.

Do you think your anecdote trumps science? Are we just supposed to ignore something medically proven cause it worked out for one person that you know?

She is quite accomplished in many ways and also quite wealthy for her age. She did date her husband for 3+ years before their wedding and is also pursuing a college degree and humanitarian work so probably bit more mature than her age.

But many in the younger generation have real concerns about the future of the planet and this country. They are way more hesitant to have children than previous generations.

It’s a fact that permanent sterilization doubled in childless people in the last 2 years.

Unfortunately most anecdotes are of multiparous women and doesn't matter for nulliparous women.

My teens are on the fence about having kids.

Four more years of the orange turd pushing christofascism isn’t going to help.

No one sane wants to have kids in Gilead.

I get what you mean and although I only know of her through googling her after reading this thread, when I looked her up, she seemed quite accomplished. Also, this recent video showed up and she looks her age to me.
May be its just how they style her, which ages her.

Those are millennials not Gen Z.

FYI, adults questioned in that survey ranged from 18- to 43-years-old.

However, since January 2025, probably no one wants to have children anymore so this is a moot point.

I agree with you that she is very accomplished. It is very challenging for young people in Hollywood, and I believe what is happening is she is addicted to plastic surgery or having some sort of work done - at 21 to look like this is very concerning.

Nope, surveys show Gen Z too. You’re right they’re probably not getting sterilization just yet, but they’re very hesitant about having children and time will tell if they changed their mind but it’s not looking good given the generation above them is the one getting sterilized left and right.

I work with a lot of young people in their 20s and early 30s, millennials and Gen Z, they are very worried about climate change and they’re very worried about having any money saved for retirement given how expensive it is just to live day to day. They are very on the fence about having children and if they do, they’re not likely to have large families.

Work from home, hybrid and childcare is available everywhere, dual income married professionals aren’t held back by kids. Kids make you more mature, more social, you work harder and take your career trajectory more seriously.

Is this a joke? It’s difficult everywhere to have kids, including Europe. My European friends have even less flexibility than I do.

I love my kids but they ruined my QOL. If I could do it all over again I wouldn’t have kids. No way. I had a terrific life and kids have limited me in almost every way. Only reason it’s tolerable is because I have $.

The fear-mongering over fertility is comical because it assumes they want to have kids in the first place.

Marriage and kids is a scam.
