Agree they did a great job, but fascinating how fast and easy body cam footage is released when the cops do well compared to when they don’t.

"Looks homicidal" as if you think that's actually Katie Hobbs' press secretary? It's a still from a movie, you idiot. But that said, it's no more deranged than any of the AR-15-toting Christmas cards that an endless array of demented Republican politicians have, now is it.

The most likely person to be shot with a gun is it's owner. Suicide. That's a fact. You aren't likely to kill a mass shooter with your gun. You're likely to kill yourself or you family member will kill themselves.

26,000 suicides by gun per year. At least some of those wouldn't happen if someone had to use a more timely and less instant death method.

Mental illness -- huge factor

Republicans: "It's not guns, it's mental illness!"

The rest of us: "THEN LET'S DO SOMETHING ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS"

Republicans: *crickets*

Please just STOP with this line until you're ACTUALLY WILLING TO DO SOMETHING. Otherwise you just repeatedly keep looking like complete clowns spouting disingenuous garbage.

The GOP always want to tout their Christian faith and traditional family values, blame video games, blah blah blah and yet...

Radio silence when you call them out on their gun culture. Gun culture where gun manufacturers post ads with toddlers fondling rifles. Gun culture with xmas cards with even the kids holding guns. Disgusting.

The press are just as disgusting as the politicians who do nothing. I’m sick of people turning tragedy into profit.

You sound like someone who just doesn’t want to face the consequences of your voting history.

+1

Vote the clowns out. Before they manage to get more of us killed.

Tell us about mental health and what out of the wide range of possible things you are willing to support.

Do you support red flag laws?'

Do you support mental health screenings for prospective gun purchasers?

Do you support mental health screenings for any other gun transfer?

Do you support mental health screenings for people in households that own or have access to guns?

Do you support expanding access to mental health care, including coverage for people who can't afford it themselves?

Do you support funding caseworkers to do outreach to people with mental health issues who wont seek treatment on their own?

Do you support involuntary commitment and treatment for people with issues that could pose a threat to themselves or others?

Do you support funding and treatment and facilities to care for other related items that often cause people to spiral into mental health crises, like substance abuse?

How many of these things would you support, and why, how many would you not support, and why, what alternatives would you propose, and why.... and note that not doing anything, and "thoughts and prayers" is NOT a viable alternative.

It's a tough question. On the one hand, I have concerns about that child's privacy. But the fact is that humans are driven by emotion. We can't grasp the problem if we don't feel it. Sterile stories about numbers just don't cut it. How much longer does school integration take if we don't have those famous pictures of white people screaming hate at little Ruby Bridges? How much longer do our wars last if we don't have imagery of the dead and the dying?

Doing something about mental illness would require more resources than either party is willing to allocate. There's a massive lack of qualified mental health professionals and decent care is unaffordable. If you are poor, you may get lucky and have a doctor medicate you but you are almost certainly not getting real therapy

Personally, I think everyone should be required to see a therapist to sign off on a gun purchase. At their expense.

I am here for this because I know that 99.9% of therapists will refuse to sign off on a gun purchase

It is sociopathic, disgusting not to mention tone deaf to tweet that one day after a mass shooting. She had to lock her twitter account because of the backlash. The message she is sending is it is ok to threaten violence if you feel someone is transphobic or not supportive of the trans community. Same message as the people wearing the "trans rights or else" t shirt with AR-15's on it. There are people on social media defending the shooter saying she is a victim as well.

I think we need some kind of mandatory insurance for firearms. I envision a multi-tiered sort of scheme. Gun owners need some kind of coverage for their own firearms. There would also be a surcharge on sales like a worker's comp scheme. Maybe it goes into a victim compensation fund with each gun seller (and/or manufacturer) having a base rate plus an experience account -- if they sell a lot of guns that end up being involved in unjustified or criminal killings, their rates go up. Makes and models of guns that are more commonly involved in unjustified or criminal killings are subjected to a higher surcharge.

She tweeted this after the shooting in TN where 6 innocent people lost their lives. Totally reprehensible.

Agree that threatening to use guns to ensure rights is always gross and people on the left should not be copying the right wing gun nuts. Disgusting all around.

I don’t think your response is going the direction the PP had hoped. Most liberals actually agree we shouldn’t be threatening gun violence!
