| Predictions on who will win districts? |
|
4. Battlefield - Great goalie and one very strong midfielder, but not a much depth or offensive firepower. Patriot is down this year so Battlefield has a pretty clear path unless Freedom takes a step up. 5. Yorktown - Lost a lot of talent, but return one of the best attack in the state. Like Madison and Robinson, well coached and always competitive. Liberty district will be tough this year and Region D is by far the most competitive. I wouldn’t have battlefield over Yorktown personally, just not true |
Madison, Robinson, and Battlefield should win their districts easily. In Liberty, I think Langley has a bit more talent than Yorktown this year but Yorktown has Langley's number lately, so I would give Yorktown the edge. |
| Who is favored to win state? |
| Too early to say there is a favorite. Six contenders. Madison/Yorktown/Langley/McLean have a tougher path than Robinson or Battlefield. |
| I know the focus here is mainly on Northern Virginia teams, but what about Cosby? |
Don't know enough about them to say. They beat an OK Battlefield team last year in the semis, lost to Madison badly in the finals but had to play on back to back days and it could have been closer. They bring back two all-State second team players and should be the Region A rep again. Not sure if they are ready to break through and dethrone the North yet but it seems like a bit of a down year up here (are there zero D1 commits for 24s and 25s across all teams so far?) so they could cause some problems. |
First I thought commits do not matter but I think there have been some. Isn't the Battlefield goalie committed? A fogo or two I think from South County and a VMI commit? I could be wrong. Just not as many as past seasons. In the past teams like Langley, Robinson, Madison, Chantilly ect would have a few. Lake Braddock was not the State champs in 2023 despite having the most. |
South County middie was committed to Loyola but believe he switched to Navy for football. |
| Broadneck dad here, on this forum because I heard there is a possibility we play them, any predictions on what may happen? |
Who is "Them"? |
Sorry! Wrote this before work, heard there is a possibility of us playing Yorktown. Any hype for a game like that? |
Does Broadneck have any college committed players? Most NOVA teams don’t. |
| I know Broadneck went 20-0 last season and beat DeMatha and Severna Park and Urbana so they were really good. Don't know how many contributors from that team are back this year, but it looks like Broadneck has a bunch of D1 and D3 committed players returning. Yorktown likely won't be as strong this year as the past couple of seasons. I'd put my money on Broadneck. |
This seems to happen with good athletes. |
