$7/gallon gas is coming

Anonymous
I live in PG County. Today, as in the busier parts of town was $4.23. Gas in the less busy part of town was $4.05-$4.09.

I went to Sam's Club and got gas for $3.99, the same price it was 1.5 weeks ago when I last filled up. Then, gas was $4.19-4.29 from the same gas stations as I cited above.

So at least on this side of town, gas prices are going down.

I paid $4.21 in Kensington today but it would have been $4.15 if I had cash.

Now it’s $4.31.

But ya, let's be mad at Biden.

It’s the same price gouging that businesses have been doing for months.

Prove there is price gouging. That is illegal and if there is evidence prove it.

Do you understand how this works? Gas stations purchase gas in advance. They pay the market price. By the time they get the gas delivered and ready for customers, they charge according to the price they pay for the gas. So, if it was purchased and paid a week ago, the price at the pump will reflect what THEY paid for the gas.

So, in summation - just because a barrel drops in price today, don't expect to see prices at the pump drop tomorrow. They are charging according to what THEY paid when they purchased the gas.

This is part of the equation. The other part is what the guy down the street is doing. They all have a vested interest in tracking each other’s prices very closely.

And the other part is the cost to transport the gas from the source to the gas stations. Supply chain costs. You’ve heard about the issues there, right?

Yes, some greedy people are using this conflict as a way to gauge their customers.

Hmmm. Sounds like you don’t grasp logistics or what a supply chain is. Wonder how many of the gas tanker drivers are participating in the local rally vs. doing their f’ing job.

This will do nothing in real terms other than attempt to make him look good. Gas prices aren't just set by the oil companies but by the gas stations themselves.

Whose logo is prominently displayed at these “independent” gas stations?

I'm glad they are having the CEOs to appear.
Perhaps they can get an education as to how gas prices work because too many of those in Congress have shown they are totally ignorant about it. Beginning with Schumer himself.
Biden should tune in too. He could learn a lot.

The hearing just the other day with the oil execs had them admit that Biden could not have done anything at all to prevent this price increase. Not sure what you are talking about.

So if we're blaming Biden for the price increase, does he also get credit for when it drops? I noticed it was 20 cents cheaper today.

No, Democrats are never given credit for anything, even when it’s something due solely to what they have done. But they’re blamed for everything, always.

I just filled up the tank for $3.87 a gallon. Thanks President Biden!

So now the President does control gas prices? A few pages ago, he didn’t…

My point was that he doesn’t. The question was to those who think he does.
