And the problem is so bad in DC that even the fbi now has to get involved apparently. Good thing DC has a plan to reduce sentences for criminals who committed violent crimes. Criminals now have free rein over DC because of ridiculously light sentencing due to so called progressive reform in the system. The progress that'll be made at this rate is getting people to flee the city as more and more businesses keep going under and crime is exploding out of control. |

It's being committed by a lot of juveniles. As if DC residents are the only ones hurting from the pandemic. Millions of other people don't resort to violent crime to make ends meet. This is a stupid and ridiculous apologist excuse. |

Short answer - yep. For the two people I know that engage in this type of activity (not carjacking but guns and drugs), they do it for the “extras” - fancy cars, expensive jewelry, stuff like that. They’re not desperate to feed their families. |

LOL, another poster's response was perfect: This sub anytime anyone mentions crime: "Look it's way down compared to the 90s. If you were a DC native, not a gentrifier, and a real city folk you'd realize having your car stolen is just part of living in the city. Smh. Just take your airpods out and you won't have your car stolen. I live in the ghetto and have never even seen a crime occur walking home at 3am alone all the time btw." Seriously, though, why do we put up with this BS as DC residents?! |
