I think some of these games are being played in VA. Which may be the deciding factor based on their COVID rate and restrictions(if any).

It is. And some VA clubs have been barred from entering MD. However, they’ve kept the money in a very similar Loudoun-based club style.

There are teams from out of state where positivity rate is creeping up. As of today MD has increased to 6.8%, and VA is 7.4%. I would suspect updates will come out tomorrow or Thursday if this tournament is really going to happen.

We are a u14 team from VA. We are playing Saturday morning in MD

Part of the issue is that this is all county by county. For example, our VA team was supposed to play in the Columbia classic last week (Howard County, MD) and were told the county wasn't allowing tournament participants from outside MD (at the last minute!). The tournament removed all non-MD teams and played last weekend. Montgomery county had a similar rule but I remember seeing they would allow teams from MD, VA, and DC only. That could be why some VA teams were told not to show to a MD tournament last week, but are ok for the Bethesda cup. So far we are ok to participant as a VA team.
