Just me being nosey about Keri Russell and Mathew Rhys' relationship

1) Why do we think they never got married? He's never been married before, she has. They have a baby together.

2) They went to upstate NY for COVID and took all the kids for 6 months. That's a longgg time away from dad for the oldest two. Is he not in the picture? I notice she always refers to them all as "our kids" when doing interviews with Rhys.

Hmm, it is interesting. Her ex is a contractor with a woodworking business. Do we even know where he lives? Maybe also upstate now?

And honestly, during the pandemic, I wonder if some families of divorce are altering custody agreements to make it easier. Like maybe the kids spend a full week with their dad every month or so, instead of shuttling back and forth a lot. That would make it easier to quarantine and limit contacts.

Or maybe he's totally out of the picture and the kids consider Rhys their dad, especially since he's their young brother's bio dad.

I kind of get the choice not to marry. I think it must be weird to sustain a relationship and a family in that career and with the so much attention from media/fans. Why feed it with another datapoint? No marriage means no wedding, no ring, no pre-nup, etc. If you are private, staying unmarried means no paper trail or photos or anything for people to sniff around. As a married person, I don't really see the difference between being married or unmarried once you have a kid together. You're bound. Everything else is paperwork.

I have not told him yet that they are now together IRL.

I weirdly know that the first husband lives in Brooklyn (they do too) and is in the picture, although I don't know how much.

Idk how true it is that they started the relationship before she was separated. IIRC, they were not together for a while before it went public and the only reason people knew was because her house got broken into and she had to say why her husband was not home. But who knows?

I do want to know why they aren't married. He said when he won his Emmy that she told him if he proposed, she'd punch him LOL. So... it seems like it's her that doesn't want to.

A lot of longterm celebrity couples are not married. When both are very wealthy in their own right, the legal protections afforded by marriage are not as important.
