Hi! My husband and I are both in our late thirties. Because of really hectic work schedules (new projects and clients) and hormonal issues( pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage) we are about 8-10 pounds heavier than we'd like to be. Till a few months back, we were doing fine and balancing eating and getting some workout. But it seems right now we have lost our rhythm and it's just easier to be in the rut.
We are thinking of joining Noom for just a couple of months to get back on track and get some motivation. Is it worth it? any cheaper options that are similar? We know enough about nutrition and calorie counting etc, so it's just a little kick in the bu#t that we need and not knowledge per see. |
I’m the OP from the thread about the husband who’s starting to lose 60 lbs.
He only started using Noom like 2 days ago, but he loves it so far. He seems to really be taking to their concepts around food (which seem to be focused on understanding which foods are calorie dense, and keeping those foods to a minimum). I’d say he knew a good bit about nutrition going into this, but keep saying, “oh I didn’t know that” when he’s reading the articles. Plus he’s lost 1.5 lbs so far! So I’d say it’s worth it for him so far. ![]() |
I've just started Noom and like it. I'm a past user of Calorie King, so I'm used to tracking food. What I like about Noom so far is that all my foods have been in the app, so I haven't had to add anything manually, which makes it that much easier to use. The content is fine, not groundbreaking but I like having things to "do" in the app. Haven't engaged with the coaches yet. |
Im using the free version - what does the paid version have and how much more is it? |
I didn’t like it, doing weight watchers instead. But my sister loves Noom...we’ve each lost 25lbs or so (she in 6 months, she’s ten years younger than me), me in a year. |
Sounds like he had a productive trip to the bathroom. |
I thought I was doing a free version and got a $110 charge from Noom. Anyone else deal with this? |
I did the Noom trial twice. I really like the calorie counting app. It's really easy to use, and kept my frequently eaten foods in a handy list. I didnt find the weight loss/psychology tips useful at all. I also thought the suggested calorie amount was insanely low for me, even with "turtle" selected. I lost weight using the app while eating at least 500 calories more per day than recommended by the app. In my experience, too low of calories slows my metabolism and makes me binge, so this is something to keep in mind. Especially if you're an exerciser. |
You could be nice. |
I didn’t find it helpful and the articles were incredibly basic. My fitness pal has much more robust food database and better syncing with Fitbit. |
And yes, there calories counts are ridiculously low and not easy to change to something more realistic. |
Hated noom. It’s so basic and try hard if you know anything at all about dieting and losing weight. |
Just could not resist. You need a calorie deficit of over 5000 calories to lose 1.5lbs of fat. Very hard to do in two days. |
Ok Karen. ![]() |
You could be more fun. |
