Instead of trick-or-treating this year my 14 year old wants to watch a scary movie - his first. Any suggestions for a good one that is scary but not such that it will keep him up for nights?
Goosebumps movies are good... but my kid is younger so not quite sure what level you are looking for.
I think a lot of older scary movies are less gory/scary than movies today. Psycho, maybe. I also like comedic horror movies to take the edge off. Arsenic and Old Lace is a favorite in our house. Or Young Frankenstein.
Sixth sense? Too tame?
OP here. Great suggestions - thank you!
such a good movie |
The goonies, the original ghost buster?
Sixth Sense was my thought as well. Or Paranormal Activity, but that is legit scary.
Gremlins!

I just watched Sixth Sense and it is like a lot of "old"movies....sloooow for kids today.
My kids liked Goonies and another odd but good choice would be Captain Phillips (not horror but pirates, right?) We also just watched "It" and it was fine for my 13 year old...it was on TV so maybe some of the worst parts were edited out. I thought it was fine. |
