This would give hope to the waiting families that DCPS won't make this notifications linger throughout the weekend while everyone is anxiously checking their emails.
If you don't mind noting which school this is in relation to, I guess that would also be much appreciated! |
|
Will notifications be delayed?
I heard from teacher friends that they have not received their assignments yet. Hard to believe that they will tell parents that kids can come when they don't have staffing worked out yet. |
Our principle told us today that people will hear today from central office but that teachers do NOT have their assignments yet. |
|
OP - do you realize that many of the people who are probably getting contacted are probably not regulars of this forum? It's not a general lottery where everyone's hat was thrown in the ring.
|
But some probably are. Worth putting out there. |
Well, everyone’s hat was thrown in — but not everyone has priority. If your point is that DCUM is frequented by DC’s educated class, bear in mind that many kids from high-SES backgrounds have kids with priority status, such as my kid with HFA. (If we don’t get a spot I might seek placement in a self-contained classroom!!) |
They aren’t going to place your kid with HFA in a self contained autism classroom so you can be back in building. |
| I just don't understand how they can put some kids with IEPs in person - but not all - and not be open to a class action lawsuit about not providing FAPE |
I just don't understand how they can conveniently not mention any ceiling to the number of students per class in virtual learning. |
I’m sure this plan has been run through OAG. They must feel like they can do it since you will most likely get a CARES seat if you don’t get the inperson spot. |
But CARES is not in person instruction. It is on-site learning - not instruction. It is sort of like the difference between going to the gym or having a personal trainer at the gym. |
It's more like the difference between watching a workout video at home, watching a workout video at the gym, and attending a live workout class with an instructor. |
| My kid has an IEP and I will jump at an in person slot and pass on a cares slot. Cares slot is setting him up for failure with some poor secretary who has no experience with high needs 5 year olds. |
|
Total crickets, huh?
Our teacher said she'd know her assignment today. I haven't heard from her either--I suspect she is also waiting on an answer! |
