Burglary at Denizens

Anonymous
For those of us who love Denizens, this is infuriating.

I just bought a gift certificate to support their business. And will match that with a contribution to a nonprofit per their request.

Good handling of it. I hope they file an insurance claim.

Such a typical DC response.

Your car got stolen. Call the insurance company.
You house got broken into. Call the insurance company.
Your iPhone got stolen. Call the insurance company.
Your 24 yo friend killed in a hold up at a gas station. Hope he had life insurance through his brand new job.

What would you suggest? Lynch the nearest black person? This is exactly what insurance is for.

Exactly. This is what insurance is for. Why would we want more police officers in the community or even investigators that followed through and actually pulled video and made an arrest and a community that prosecuted offenders. Why would we want to do that, when we can just charge everybody higher insurance premiums to cover nuisance things like this. That glass window pane is cheap anyway. Probably only run around $10K. With the incurred raise of their rates, it should not raise Denizens or other shop owners operating costs more than a few thousand dollars over the year.

Oh, and who said anything about lynching POC? Your wokeness is showing its true colors. This is a crime issue, not a race issue. You feel better though. You got that 'woke' dopamine hit from anonymously hitting 'submit' while actually doing nothing to help those you shouting for. You are a real peach.

Good luck Denizen's.

This is such a bizarre post. Of course they should work with their insurance company, that’s why we pay insurance. Of course the police should investigate and the offenders should be prosecuted. Why can’t both occur? Small businesses are struggling. Only 10k for a window? SMH!!

Did anyone say it was done by a black person? There are a lot more white homeless men than black homeless men. Looking into the mirror, you should see a racist there.

Denizens is not in DC. I live a couple of blocks away, and I love it here.

No, I assume that the person who said that they hoped that they had insurance was a DC resident. I hope that Maryland is simply smarter than using the DC technique of having insurance pay for crime. Maybe I am wrong. But when I hear "hope they had insurance", I assume that the person is from DC where insurance equals crime fighting.

per the article, a window was smashed and a “few bottles of alcohol” were taken. sucks but hardly a tragedy, OP.

They did not take much, but fixing the window costs a lot of money, and they are already struggling a lot, like most small businesses.

The transparency of your racism is absolutely shocking.

The VERY FIRST you think of when discussing “crime”, is “Black people”.

Wow..... Just friggin’ wow.

I’m so glad I don’t know you.

This is always what happens on this website, on almost every thread. I don't know if it's just a couple random trolls or if there are actually many people dumb enough to think this way. But the second you bring up crime, moving to a neighborhood with less crime, having the police crack down on crime, etc. etc., there are always a couple of posters who come in and say, "Oh so you hate black people huh?"
