Nausea leaving me feeling hopeless

Anonymous
I’m about two months pregnant with my third. With all three pregnancies I’ve felt nauseous and extremely tired; with the first two it subsided after the first trimester and I had great second and third trimesters. But this time feels different. I have no energy to do anything and feel really sad. I don’t know if it’s related to just feeling so damn yucky all the time, or if it’s covid burnout, or having two kids at home doing virtual school, or a combination of the three. I wanted this third baby so badly but I feel so horrible now and I’m so afraid that I’m not going to feel better than I wonder if I made a mistake.

Yes. But you could also try Diglesis before Zofran if you're more comfortable with that. But, I agree with PP. Zofran!

Also, I totally understand your feelings. I often felt listless and depressed when experiencing morning (a.k.a. all damn day) sickness. It totally distorts your thinking because you are so miserable. Since your own mind cannot do it right now, I will fill in and assure you IT WILL END and you WILL feel better eventually, and not regret your baby. Hang in there!!

Thank you. I needed this. XO

I'm the Zofran poster. I found it not only helped my nausea but also my mood. I was completely nonfunctional, crying all the time. Started Zofran and amazing

Have you had an ultrasound? Because I was nauseous 24/7 with my second pregnancy for quite a long time---and it was twins. My go-tos were cold cold watermelon (unfortunately out of season now, but whole foods may have some) and/or frozen coke (cola flavored slurpees from 7-11)
good luck

This is how I felt! I’m 24 weeks now with my third. I don’t know how I did it!

You can take vitamin b6 and unisom. Combined it really helps! REALLY. My doctor told me to; it’s the same as diclegis but not as expensive.

B6/Unisom combo (this is DIY diclegis, just make sure you get the correct form of Unisom)...or zofran. Just take the meds. No sense making yourself miserable trying to tough it out.

I couldn’t do zofran because it seems to make me constipated, and I had enough problems with that as it was during both of my pregnancies.

I wouldn’t take meds unless I was also vomiting. You’re right in the feeling sick period. It’s so bad! I got some relief from gas station cups filled with ice then cold red Gatorade poured on top. Started to taper around 15 weeks. Hang in there! Your nesting and go getting days are still coming.

Get your OB to write an Rx for Diclegis. It didn't completely fix my nausea and fatigue but it helped a lot.

+ 1 million. Please go straight to this, dicligis is crap. I totally feel you, I am 25 weeks and only JUST stopped feeling nauseous (amd vomiting daily around the clock) about a week ago. Zofran saved me. This was my 4th and I always felt better by 18-20 weeks so I was depressed too and starting to think it was permanent. I really think having the kids and covid is a part of why it's gotten you down. You didn't make a mistake! You are just in the hardest part. I had to hear people tell me over and over again that it will get better, and having FINALLY just turned the corner, I promise you it really does. Please just try to find the smallest ways to self indulge, even if it means a banana milkshake for dinner (that really helped my evening nausea) or a new show or some kind of treat. You are doing the hardest work there is and you are in the thick of it! Hugs!

Zofran does cause constipation but easy to treat by drinking prune juice every day... And it is the only medicine that actually works.

Being pregnant is just a horrible miserable grind. Still the easiest way to get a baby so just stick it out and consider it a means to an end.

Diclegis made ZERO difference to me. Puking and nausea round the clock. Zofran was a godsend and made me even willing to go through another pregnancy. Make sure you take a stool softener pill with each zofran pill that you take and you should be fine regarding constipation. Be sure your doctor prescribes you dissolvable zofran, not the pills you swallow whole. Those one came right back up for me but I could usually keep the dissolvable ones down long enough for them to kick in.
