DCPS just needs to cancel the professional development day for teachers

We should not have to come in just for PD - - it is still unsafe to be on the roads.

you'll be fine

DCPS should indeed cancel the PD day for teachers, and make it a proper school day for students.

Gosh - I thought these days were so important to the teachers. If it is "just" maybe they should all be taken away.

Agree! Cancel the PD day and make it a proper school day.

The PD days should not have been scheduled during the school year. Unnecessary hardship for parents, big waste of time for teachers. This training should take place after the school year ends and before the new school year starts.

And the professional development under Rhee is just as lame as that under previous superintendents.

PD is always lame... as a rule.

The PD days have been consumed by intensive IMPACT training. Luckily, we are at an autonomous school and we aren't required to do IMPACT training (we have done guided reading and four blocks writing instead). But, we switched around our schedule, so tomorrow is not a PD day for us, it is Parent Conference Day. We'll see who actually shows up - both teachers and parents.

Must be nice to be part of the alternate DCPS universe.

Certainly they should and make it a school day for the kids! Really now, what has been the added value of these training days compared with the loss of classroom time (ie the kids should be in class this extra time, or is should be during their spring and winter breaks).

Yes indeed I have... several parts of town and I see pavement on the streets as well as sidewalks.

Agreed. We had a wet walk today because the intersections are slushy, but everything's passable.
