We finally got the official DCPS definition of rigor |
I am glad that I had to take a vacation day off of work to watch my child for this... |
During PD at my schools we were told to reward students in order to motivate them. Well, that's Rhee's educational philosophy. Rewards and punsihment. This is also her philosophy on how to motivate adults.
Just pathetic! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G59KY7ek8Rk |
We can train them like puppies and give them food treats as rewards... |
So funny!
Rhee .... is.... awful.... |
This video is well worth watching. Thank you. |
PARENTS ARE FURIOUS ABOUT THOSE PROFESSIONAL DAYS... SCHOOLS ARE FOR KIDS NOT FOR TEACHERS- KIDS MISSED SO MANY DAYS THIS YEAR!!! COULDN'T THOSE PROFESSIONAL DAYS TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAYS ? IS THERE ANY VALUE IN THOSE PROFESSIONAL DAYS ANYWAY ? |
School is a lot more than child care. If you want your child to get a decent education, the teachers need some time to think and grow. Is every moment of your PD perfect? I didn't think so.

16:19- "Schools are for kids not for teachers"...? What are you talking about? Could you get more ridiculous? That's like saying stores are for customers but not for merchandise. You can't have students without teachers. I am a teacher and love it. I bust my ass every day and do work on weekends from home (long term lesson planning, assessment, etc.) I personally find the PD days valuable for reflection and assessment of my own teaching skills. Kudos to the PP for understanding this. |
As a teacher who is also a parent, I think:
• PD is important • it should be scheduled before school starts in August and after school ends in June This would work better for parents and allow teachers to make better use the knowledge they gain to plan and implement higher quality learning opportunities for their students. |
What a great idea to do PD before school starts and during the summer! It is a killer to find child care at least 2 or 3 days a month when school is out for PD and holidays. |
