So, I ordered flowers for Mother's Day last May from ProFlowers. At some point, I clicked on something like a $15 off coupon for the next time that I use ProFlowers. So I used the coupon to also order flowers for my mother-in-law. The flowers were great.
But...a few months later, my DH said "What is this charge on our credit card statement that keeps appearing every month?" Long story short, when I clicked on that $15 off coupon, I had somehow joined a "club" that charges me first $1.95, then $14.95 EVERY month. (The club was apparently somehow for "saving" me money on flowers, even though I had no idea I was being charged every month.) My credit card co. said it was legit (they had received complaints before), I called ProFlowers they said they would take the charges off, then they didn't. I called them again, they finally credited the money back. So, watch out for ProFlowers, I won't be ordering from them again! |
| LOL sorry but I can't avoid laughing at the add from ProFlowers in this thread... |

Haha, yes, there is ProFlowers, proudly announcing flowers "from $19.99." Hee.
I'll stick with what I know. |
| that's too bad. i've typically liked proflowers flowers a lot more than other services i've used. |

I have been burned using FTD and 1800 flowers and have since used 1800 flowers. I know the "Promotion" that the OP is referring to. I too was lured in but I saw that it was a service and decided not to bite. My experience with actual orders have been nothing but wonderful.

ProFlowers are nice quality flowers, but the upcharges drive me nuts. I bet if you go to order the $19.99 flowers, by the time all is said and done you'll pay at least twice that.
I've seen the $15 savings thing the OP mentioned and am always tempted but never clicked on it, thinking that it sounds too good to be true. I guess now I know what it is and that I want to steer clear of it! |
| You should read the fine print OP. |
Not sure there is any fine print. There was an article about this on msnbc.com not too long ago: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35221235/ns/business-consumer_news/ |
P6 is that you? |
| Same think happened to me. ProFlowers ended up ensuring I was fully refunded from both parties--there were two I accdientally clicked on. Ended up getting refunded over $150. |
| The same thing happened to my husband. He was in Iraq and was able to order flowers from the internet and the same thing happened with the fee. He didn't have access to a phone, so I had to deal with them trying to get the fees reversed. |

I think it is important for people to understand the piggy backing - but you need to be clear - ProFlowers was not named as 1 of the 22 retailers who was doing this (at least not called out in this article). It would be a little more responsible to state ... the merchants being investigated include: Barnes & Noble, Orbitz.com, Buy.com, Ticketmaster.com, MovieTickets.com, FTD.com, Shutterfly.com, 1-800Flowers.com, Avon.com, Budget, Staples.com, Priceline.com, GMAC Mortgage, Classmates.com, Travelocity, Vistaprint, Intelius, Hotwire.com, Expedia/Hotels.com, Columbia House, Pizza Hut and Gamestop/EB Games. How interesting that FTD.com and 1-800 flowers.com are part of this investigation and NOT Proflowers |
| Just ordered from Red Envelope today and got the pop-up for $15 off my next order. MANY merchants are and have been doing this for a long time. You have to be very careful what you click and sign up for... |
