Not sure there is any fine print. There was an article about this on msnbc.com not too long ago:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35221235/ns/business-consumer_news/

I think it is important for people to understand the piggy backing - but you need to be clear - ProFlowers was not named as 1 of the 22 retailers who was doing this (at least not called out in this article).

It would be a little more responsible to state ... the merchants being investigated include: Barnes & Noble, Orbitz.com, Buy.com, Ticketmaster.com, MovieTickets.com, FTD.com, Shutterfly.com, 1-800Flowers.com, Avon.com, Budget, Staples.com, Priceline.com, GMAC Mortgage, Classmates.com, Travelocity, Vistaprint, Intelius, Hotwire.com, Expedia/Hotels.com, Columbia House, Pizza Hut and Gamestop/EB Games.

How interesting that FTD.com and 1-800 flowers.com are part of this investigation and NOT Proflowers

Huh????? Just because ProFlowers is not being investigated in the lawsuit doesn't mean they don't use the piggybacking. The OP clicked on an ad for X amount off the next purchase, then was automatically signed up for something. It sounds exactly like the practice mentioned in the article. The article is relevant. Did I say "ProFlowers is involved in this practice?" No, I said "Not sure there is any fine print. There was an article about this on msnbc.com not too long ago: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35221235/ns/business-consumer_news/" How is that irresponsible?

Jeez.

Why don't people call local vendors (near delivery) directly, to support a mom and pop? I wouldn't pay 800 florist or whatever to do something you can do yourself for less time and money.

Most of the time, the local florists have better stuff, anyway. I've gotten nothing but terrible product and service otherwise. As if they have no incentive.

Just call the local vendor directly.

I think people use internet companies for flowers instead of local stores b/c they can do it from home. They can see exactly what they are ordering whereas if you can a local store, you are really at their mercy.

I just saw an add from Organic Bouquet. You get one dozen roses free when you order a dozen. It comes out to be around $50.00 for two dozen roses but it looks like Saturday delivery is an additional $10.00. The big bonus is, the flowers are organic! I have no affliation with the company, I just like to share eco-friendly information when I can.

1800 and such use mom&pop shops locally in case you don't know.

OP here.

On my credit card, the charges started with:

EZSVER

So if you see that, you will know that they started charging you for their "savings club". (Unless of course they have changed what they call it.)

OP here. One more thing, I made a mistake in my original post. It wasn't ProFlowers that I had to call to get my money back, it was this other company that "piggybacked" like it says in the article. I still blame ProFlowers, though, because they had my credit card number. I didn't give my credit card number when I clicked on the "$15 off" so that second company did get my credit card info from ProFlowers. Nor did I realize that I wasn't dealing with ProFlowers anymore.

Thanks for printing the article, PP. So a lot of companies are doing this, that is just wrong. I bet there must be some people that get charged for years for these "clubs" and don't realize it.
