Recommend Your Store-Bought Coffee

Snowed in. Starbucks is closed anyway (all three within walking distance of the house). All out of coffee right now. We can go a few days without food. Coffee is the true essential.

Anyway, am about to trek it to CVS or Safeway. I know they sell Starbuck and Dunkin Donuts coffee there, though I've always been skeptical about whether it's up to snuff. Also a few other brands there, like Eight O'Clock, Peets, Seattle's Best, and the generic Safeway, even organic, in addition to all of those others like Maxwell House, etc.

So, help me get through this crisis - please recommend your store-bought coffee.

If you like the stronger bitter coffee, go with Peet's or Starbucks. Dunkin is a little milder and nuttier. But for home brewed coffee, I actually like good ol fashioned Chock Full O Nuts. It's what good old school diners serve.

Starbucks will do in a pinch, though it's not my favorite. They have shade grown (I think maybe Mexican?) that my parents have at their house. I like starbucks better than duncan donuts. The trick is to get one of the bolder persuasions b/c the mild or medium bodied starbucks coffees are weak and thin.

I feel your pain, btw. We were out of coffee yesterday (we always get the Sidamo coffee from Sidamo on H street) and we have no stores within walking distance. DH went to Yes! organic market and picked up their house blend.

It is undrinkable. I mean it. And I'm addicted to coffee. But it may be the worst coffee I've ever imbibed. Blech.

i like dunkin, but i really don't care for the super strong burnt-tasting kinds so it really depends on how strong you like it.
