Return to Normalcy

When do you suspect the country will return to some semblance of normalcy? Will things be better in 2021? Or do you think we are in for a much longer ride?

Not anytime soon... but I hope someday

Random benign questions I have:

- when will Trader Joe's allow baskets again?
- How long are all the SOCIAL DISTANCING!!!!1111 signs going to remain? We know. But how long are the signs going to be everywhere?
- when will the Whole Foods hot food bar come back? Will it ever come back?
- who bought stock in plexiglass, and can you share?

I have a friend who is a hospitalist and has worked with Covid patients. She predicts 3 years before schools can reopen and have a normal life back. I was surprised by that but she would know better than me what to expect.

Keeping schools closed for three years just isn't reasonable unless we drastically change the way education is done in the entire country.

The signs drive me nuts. We are all aware, thank you.

Which baskets? My Trader Joe's has hand baskets and carts. OR are you referring to something else?

If God is Good, never.

Unless Trump get's taken out of the WH in handcuffs we are in for a very bumpy ride.

if he wins again we are hosed. Period.

Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to read his tweet today. Sit in a car with the windows rolled up with him. Understand his treatment was not for the general public and that he is the absolute worst thing to happen to this country.

Press secretary infected at least 20 people today and yesterday so good luck all.

That's about how long the Great Influenza took.

I'm sure they will figure out some way for schools to be open in some fashion, but it will take everyone wearing masks and preventing idiots (or people without child care or paid leave) from sending their kids to school sick.

I think it will be about three years as well, it's going to take some time for a vaccine to come out and then the disease seems to be acting more like the seasonal flu and the vaccine probably won't have 100% effectiveness. If people are willing to go about their business with masks and at least six feet away, then we can start doing more things we want to do.

Actually, you’d be surprised how many ppl aren’t aware. See if every single day.

Masks probably won’t go away-we’re too conditioned.
Commutes and office life for many are things of the past. TW is the new normal.
Schools maybe return in fall 2021.
Movie theaters are dead
Concerts, large sporting events, other crowded fan-type events won’t maybe return in a couple of years.

And, I assume educators will need to completely rethink the school year and instruction in congested urban areas. Having school during the spring, summer, and fall, so there can be classes outside.

Or having year round school and dividing up the classes so there can be social distancing. I lived in an area which went to year round schooling for a while because they didn't have the ability to build new buildings.

They are aware, they just don’t care. So the signs are meaningless to them. Those of us who care, already know. So the signs are meaningless to us. Unless you’ve been living under a rock since March 13th, you know.

Which TJs? Springfield and Old Town have yet to see baskets make a comeback. I hate getting a cart when I'm just, say, stocking up on 10 seaweed snacks. Too much to carry, but ridiculous for a cart.

Same. I am the front desk manager at the municipal building in my town and at least twice a week I have to remind members of the public coming in to social distance. I also usually have to remind five people or so each week to wear masks!
