Hot food bar at our local Whole Foods is back!!

Commutes and office life for many are things of the past. TW is the new normal.
Schools maybe return in fall 2021.
Movie theaters are dead
Concerts, large sporting events, other crowded fan-type events won’t maybe return in a couple of years.

Give me a break. You sound thrilled about this. Some people really WANT this .....! Look at other states that are already back to normal. I’ll move to one of them if I have to. Or another country. But I’m sure your prediction won’t come true as much as you’d love it. I have already gone to the movies and the gym and restaurants etc etc and so will everyone else. And school is reopening everywhere...whether you like to or not.

I am definitely not conditioned to wear a mask. Most people hate them. No one is embracing them as a new Normal. Just a few dramatic kooks.

I'm on this team. I am not wearing a mask for one second beyond when it's legally required. The mask is the absolute worst.

Sporting events are working their way back already

I'm curious, why states are back to normal with low Covid numbers? I have not been following the latest developments.

The physicians I know share the two to three year time frame. The big elective surgeons who do cardiac and plastic surgery are doing fine but the orthopedic surgeons are not making money because no one wants to risk Covid recovering from a knee replacement in a rehab hospital.

The attitude on this thread is just very typical of the DC area--but close in DC in particular. They are so closed minded, so risk averse, such rules followers, that they cannot begin to comprehend the reality. That we have been snowed so completely by the politicization of coronavirus. Half the country, at least, is very close to back to normal. It makes no sense to hear these liberal, nerdy, introverts, thrive in the thought that they get to wear masks and watch people suffer for two or three more years. It is their fantasy. Sorry to tell you, we will be back to normal by December, January at the latest.

Florida. Lots of cases but very few deaths. Declining every week. The risk of dying is getting lower and lower every week. I’m not going to hide from a virus that 99.9% chance can’t kill me. Now if I was obese and had diabetes I’d be more careful and you should too if you’re someone with health issues.

So what? Even people with MDs behind their names have opinions and agendas like any other human. Most of them don’t know any more about infectious disease or epidemiology than a criminal lawyer knows about antitrust law. Most experts are not saying that schools won’t reopen for 3 years.

I work for a builder in Arlington and the person across the street has been pitching a fit that he has seen some of the workers remove their masks while working OUTSIDE. My builder ( and various departments of Arlington County government) have politely listened to him. Meanwhile his old house has chipping paint, a front porch piled with garbage, and moss growing on it from I trimmed trees.

People are so risk adverse but happily live in squalor.

+1 Even doctors and nurses who wear PPE for 12 hours per day will have no problem leaving them off to go shopping.

Close friend is an ER doctor who has worked with many covid patients. He is 100% not wearing a mask outside, including around his elderly parents.

We absolutely need better leadership - DON'T behave like the Trumps. DO get plenty of fresh air. DO take care of your mental and physical health. Outside risk, especially in a fleeting pass, is negligible. Honestly, the morons who are constantly dropping and littering their masks everywhere because they take it off, put it back on (rinse, repeat) are way more offensive.
