Is a better predictor than BMI for health.
Your waist in inches should be 50% or less than your height in inches. |
waist to hip ratio is good too https://www.healthline.com/health/waist-to-hip-ratio#calculate Under .85 for women and under 1.0 for me |
| I never heard of waist to height ratio as a thing! thanks for sharing. Will go look it up. |
|
I 6'0 man with a 36 inch waist is probably pretty tubby.
(Cue all the "I'm built like a linebacker" responses, but those men are in their 20s or younger and work out all the time). |
| Waist to height, never heard that. Interesting. |
| 50% is pretty generous. Maybe in terms of health but in terms of looks 50% waist to height is gonna look a bit chunky |
It is 50% or less I am 68 inches tall and 32 waist but even with 34 I don’t look chunky. The point is belly fat is the worst kind of fat for your health. |
| Cool, thanks OP. Mine is 0.72 for waist to hip. Waist to height is 0.40. Honestly, 50% for that would be pretty bad ... I’m 64 inches and am female, so having even a 31 inch waist would make me pretty fat. |
|
Source? Sounds ridiculous.
I'm never going to have 33" waist - I don't want to and I shouldn't. |
| Yeah a 5'8" man with. 34" waist would look like a beach ball. |
| Op, please cite a source. Having even close to a 50% ratio would make you pretty fat |
For real. I'm 64" tall with 26" inch waist, so 40%, and am still plump around the middle. Not noticeable in clothing, but enough that it's probably impacting my health and needs to go. |
OP here: Sorry, for not linking But if you google waist to height ratio for men/women You will get some articles. Don’t forget You have to Measure your waist around your bellybutton. |
You must be a man. A 34 in waist on a woman of any height would look chunky. |
I'm not sure of source or validity of this but OP specifically stated this is about health predictors and has literally nothing to do with how attractive or not you find a woman. WTF not everything is about your looks |
