Need an alternative name for Daisy

Anonymous
We had been planning on Daisy for a girl, but then Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry named their daughter Daisy and now I'm having second thoughts. Just found out the sex (girl!) so now I need to decide whether to go ahead with Daisy or switch.

I like that it's short and sweet. Our older daughter has a longer, kind of musical name, but we mostly call her by her -y nn (think Molly or Ginny), and we really like how it goes with Daisy. We also like that our older daughter's name is cheerful and want something similar. We feel like a child born in a pandemic deserves a cheery name!

Some alternatives I'm considering:

Poppy
Lucy
Dahlia (nn Dolly)
Lettie (probably short for Violet but maybe on its own).

Thoughts? Other suggestions?

Margaret, nicknamed Daisy! Do it! You can always use Maisie as a nickname, or any of the other great Margaret nicknames (Maggie, Meg, Greta, etc.)

This was my sister's suggestion. I like the name Margaret but she will have an "M" last name and my husband doesn't like the alliteration. So I'm trying to come up with something totally different that we can compare to. I think if we go with Daisy, it will just be her name, not an nn.

Stick with Daisy. Don't let celebrities ruin it for you. It's such a small snapshot in time and quickly forgotten.

And most people won't make the association.

I would just go with Daisy. You're not related or even friends with Katy Perry or Orlando Bloom, It doesn't matter. If you love it, use it!

How about Lucinda with nn Lucy? Or Lilliana/Lillian nn Lilly?

I think Lucy or Dahlia are fine names. Poppy and Lettie feel very lightweight to me—not so much cheerful as the sort of deliberately ding-batty names popular in the UK 10+ years ago.

Daisy is ok, though it strikes me as young, maybe hard to pull off in one’s 40s.

Just go with it. Daisy was our #1 choice for a girl, but we had two boys. Love it. it was my great-grandmother's name, so clearly in use as a first name for over 100 years.

I like Daisy too. Just go with it.

Other suggestions are Rose (calle her Rosie), Ivy, Ruby.

I looooove Dolly Parton and kind of love the Dahlia/Dolly idea.

Was this a thing? Now I want to know what the others were (I love things both British and ding-batty!)

Peggy!

Seriously, op, no one’s goiter to remember Orlando & Katy’s kid’s name. Without looking it up do you remember his older kid’s name?

Daisy is not unique enough for people to assume you copied a celebrity. Just use it if you like it.

This. No one is going to remember or care what a random celebrity couple named their kid. If it was a highly unusual name (like Apple) that would be different. You love the name--go for it!
