Her posture makes my back hurt just to look at it.

because the software they use linked a word here to their bank of words to publish that commercial.

did you notice adds for muslin clothing and burqas on sale on the thread about banishment of burqas?

I have no idea why, but I'm glad they are.

Jeff, could you tell us how this works and how you get paid? I just assumed each advertiser had to contact you first?

Why not? I'm sure there are many on this site who shop at Neiman Marcus... maybe not for a jumpsuit, but for other clothing items. I do wish I could pull off wearing a jumpsuit. It's been a trend since last summer.

The vast majority of the ads on this site are from Google Adsense. I have very little control over which ads appear and normally don't know about advertisers until I see the ads here myself. Generally, Google ads are targeted based on key words in an attempt to be context-relevent. However, Google also takes a bit more sophisticated approach beyond the simple keywords. Many of the ads on this site have been targeted based on analysis beyond simple keywords. For instance, our audience demographic (which is very attractive to advertisers), geographic concentration, and past experience with other ads. Google has account managers who do analysis and make recommendations to advertisers.

I think it's actually a bit of a coup to get Neiman Marcus advertising in the forum. I've been told that national advertisers don't like to advertise on sites with user-generated content because of the chance that their ads will appear along with content that might be problematic. For instance, an advertiser might not want to be next to a forum post advocating pro-Nazi viewpoints or something along those lines. It would give the impression that the advertiser is supporting such views. While I don't think we have any Nazis posting here, DCUM has plenty of material that could be found objectionable. Regardless, I hope that Neiman's ads will work out for them and similar advertisers will follow. Users have been clicking on the ads, so they seem pretty successful.

Jeff all we need to do is click to add revenue to this site? Not actually purchase?
