Shots fired at Trump rally

Most Democratic leaders and voters are class acts. Trump is going to be treated more thoughtfully than he would ever treat anyone else under the same circumstances.

Unfortunately, neither Trump nor his MAGA ragers are considerate or intelligent enough to register this.

Scalise shot. Trump shot. SCOTUS judges needing increased security after rulings like Roe vs Wade to the point that Garland authorized 24-7 protection. Biden saying Trump belongs in the crosshairs. What alternate world are you living in?

But no worries about things like RW kidnapping plots against Whitman in Michigan, or the conspiracy theory guy who almost killed Pelosi's husband, the threats against Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, or Pelosi on Jan 6 (or even Mike Pence), Roger Stone's photo of Judge Amy Berman Jackson in crosshairs, Trump's bloodbath and fight like hell comments.

Also Roger Stone:
And in a documentary film about his role in helping Mr. Trump remain in power after losing the 2020 election, Mr. Stone was caught on camera laying out plans to create and exploit uncertainty about the election results to help Mr. Trump cling to power.

“Let’s get right to the violence,” he says at one point. “Shoot to kill.”

+1

This is what the GOP has explicitly asked for. Democratic calls to tone down the rhetoric are met with jeers, essentially.

Remember when those racists fools in Alabama actually found MLK not guilty of contrived tax evasion charges? When those enlightened New Yorkers meet that standard of justice, you would have a point.

? To whom did you mean to reply?

BUT also a mass shooting, with 3 victims, 2 in critical condition.

A poorly trained assassin. His parents must be so proud.

They are reporting that he hadn’t lined up his shot before he was spotted and pursued by SS. An antendee saw the shooter setting up the shot and tipped SS off.

Maybe he shouldn't have picked such an obvious spot. Again, poorly trained. Mission failed.

He shot a man behind Trump in the head. He grazed Trump’s head. He was just too slow.

The secret service blew his head off. Their snipers know what they are doing. This guy did not.

I'm scared that this will unleash an era of more violence. I mean we already had Jan 6 (encouraged by Trump and followers). Now it'll just be chaos. I think we should all be very afraid.

He had nearly perfect aim from some distance. Waiting to hear what his training with a rifle was?

I’m interested in this too, but I doubt they will release that information. No credit or glory to this assassin.

200-300 ft away, multiple rounds, AR-15 style rifle used.

No political figure has ever stoked as much violence as Trump. He’s supported neo nazis, undermined our elections, and stoked violence against his own VP and political candidate. So no, I don’t feel any sympathy for him. What goes around comes around.

We can be against everything Trump stands for but still be sympathetic to the plight of all politicians and rally-goers who are victims of gun violence. It appears that Trump nearly lost his life tonight. One of his supporters died. This is not OK.

Yes, it's well known that Trump has incited violence multiple times and has denied the dangers of Covid such that many of his supporters died of it. You can deplore the act without liking the man. But if you're going to hold the higher moral ground, instead of wallowing in the mud with this guy, then you can damm well express decent sorrow that he was shot at tonight, and that someone died.

People are going to use this attempt to further add to Trump’s messiah complex. Regrettably, political assassination attempts have happened many times before, and will likely continue to happen. It’s important to remember that and not let this event feed an already incredibly warped political narrative that Trump is exceptionally victimized. Especially when he himself victimizes so many people.

I’m surprised this hasn’t happened sooner given how much violence he has incited.

Even with a close hit/ near miss - this was a well trained ex military person.

If the upside down flag is correct, it’s a right winger who thinks he has the support of the right wing.

President Trump was not struck by a bullet, but hit by glass fragments believed to have come from the shattered teleprompter from the gunfire. They were real bullets. They hit at least 2 people behind or near the stage and possibly more.

provide a link?

This is possible. No one else has posted so I will hold off but there are certain aspects of Secret Service security that are not well known that would make a shooter less effective.

Absolutely right. Trump's behavior was disgusting when Democrats were attacked and almost killed.

He probably doesn’t want more focus on how his crew cut Trump/denied Kennedy adequate protection.

Possible the shooter was actually an unhinged RWNJ that didn't think Trump was going far enough.

We know that RWNJs are expert patriot marksmen, so there's no way he could have missed, unless it was an intentional graze.

Maybe he was upset about the softened stance on a national abortion ban in the GOP platform that Trump insisted on

He just wasn’t as good. And his weapon was less precise than theirs.

Trump would be gloating and wishing the shooter had finished the job if this happened to Biden. Remember how gleeful he was when Paul Pelosi was brutally attacked?

Teleprompters are still intact. Watch the footage. Are you watching MSNBC instead?.......

Very conservative newsmax says they were told by Pennsylvania police that they think it’s glass fragments that hit Trump.

Stop spreading this , it is wrong!

There is NO credible evidence that Trump was hit by a bullet.

He said he was on Truth Social .

Try to keep up!

I heard a discussion earlier on NBC about how maybe it was a sling shot or a paint ball…

No it was a rifle. It was a near successful assassination of a former US President and likely future US President.

When Trump tweeted about Congress members when he was in office, the death threats rolled in from MAGA.
