Disastrous results for iready

Anonymous
Our child took iready. Child is 5th grade AAP and scored 40 percentile. Teacher mentioned in the email that in her side documentation shows it was rushed. Now they will do further assement. We are essential workers so don't know how much time was spent on the test. Anyone else in the same boat?

ridiculous. no more assessment. please. Imagine Learning assessment, I-ready assessment, horizon assessment---they have been assessing for weeks, time to start TEACHING

teachers have no way of knowing who gave up on spring, who kept up and who went ahead. Assessments are still needed for both class placements where advanced math is a pull out and for in class groupings. All we're doing is witnessing what would be happening if they were physically in school

Op here I can speak for my child and I am sure in school kids will be more serious and not rush to finish to play.

To other poster testing is essential to know where kids stand not every patent can pay for private tutoring and testing is happening in Monday which is not a teaching day in FCPS.

OP's daughter is in AAP, so she is already in advanced math

Our school keeps doing assessments, even though they stopped teaching in March. No new material was taught. Just pick up where you stopped in March!

My now 3rd grade DC's teachers taught new material starting April 14 (yes, even with the week of disruption). Even barring that, I was teaching them new material tracking with the program of studies. I know I wasn't alone in this. So yes, my 3rd grader in AAP is ready for 3rd grade content; she doesn't need to re-do the math they taught her in spring.

that may be true of your school, but not every school or center treats level IV like an automatic entry into advanced math

I'm sure my kids did the same. They rush through those things. Our school doesn't place much value on i-Ready anyway.

Op here agree. Now the reading teacher will do one on one which will yield different results. Just more work for teachers.

The kids rush every year in person too. I do think the assessment was shorter this year as all of my kids finished quickly.

My school only gave Iready reading. We are giving IReady Math in a couple of weeks.
