Stopping progesterone and early and short/light period, or implantation bleeding?

Anonymous
TTC, mid 40s. My dr suggested that I start taking progesterone a few days after ovulation to help support pregnancy. I missed a dose here and there and then was out of town and plain forgot all together for like two days. Then my period started which surprised me a) bc obvs I wasn't pregnant and b) it was a few days early (although within a week of when it should arrive. So ok I thought my period just came early for whatever reason- didn't start out as brownish like normal for me but ok... day 1 was normal. Then second day, it just disappeared! Would stopping progesterone cause a light, 1 day period? Or could this be implantation bleeding? I'm so confused. Help!

Uh yikes stopping progesterone is... not advised. if you were pregnant you probably aren’t anymore. You realize it’s necessary to support a pregnancy right? And once you start you can’t stop until 8-10 weeks along or you risk miscarriage.

Was this timed intercourse? Your body would be making progesterone in that case on its own. If you’re mid 40s chances of natural conception are slim.

Yes timed intercourse. And I didn't mean to stop, I went out of town and did not have the suppositories for 2 days. The nurse said it probably wasn't a big deal to miss a couple of doses.

The nurse seriously told you that? Wow. She sounds like a complete idiot. It is NOT ok to miss a couple of doses..
