Can stopping progesterone bring on an early, light period?

TTC, mid 40s. My dr suggested that I start taking progesterone a few days after ovulation to help support pregnancy. I missed a dose here and there and then was out of town and plain forgot all together for like two days. I know- terrible- but it's just new to me and I kept forgetting and then I'd be out of the house with no suppositories in my purse and miss a dose. Anyway, then my period started (which when I counted back was 2-3 days after my last dose)- which surprised me a) bc obvs I wasn't pregnant and b) it was a few days early (although within a week of when it should arrive. So ok I thought my period just came early for whatever reason- didn't start out as brownish like normal- it was bright red and pink- but ok... day 1 was normal. Then second day, it just disappeared! Would stopping progesterone cause a light, 1 day period? Or could this be implantation bleeding? I'm so confused. Help!
