I would prefer not to bring my DD to the pediatrician if at all possible. |
Age nine and above for places like that.
Most ped office are either doing literally drive by (get the shot in your car) or pretty close - we walked in, got our shots at the check out counter, and left. We weren’t inside for ten minutes. Super low risk and definitely less risk than a Costco! |
Depends on state. In MD, it's age 9 and up, but I think it's younger in VA. Not sure about DC. |
Have you checked with how your pediatrician is doing them? I ask because we had far less exposure to other people at the pediatricians office than when I got mine at CVS. Our pediatrician had a sign up for slots for the flu shot clinic--we went and were the only ones there other than the nurse and the receptionist, and the receptionist confirmed all our info verbally from about 10 feet away (literally no one else in the waiting room, doors were propped so we didn't touch any common surfaces etc. |
You can take kids under 9 to the CVS Minute clinic. They have you wait in your car until it's your turn. We went to the one in Bethesda and they had us go in to the clinic in pairs, one parent with one child at a time. And yes, the door was propped open so we didn't need to touch anything. |
Our minute clinic (at Target) only does it for ages 12 and up |
Apparently the age was lowered this year. My 8-year-old got his at Safeway. |
Our pediatrician did them as a drive thru so FAR less exposure than dragging the kids into a store and waiting around for our turn. Make sure you'd actually be safer going to a store vs. a medical office. |
I’ve always done it at Harris Teeter, they do it for age 4. Also helps if you have kids that don’t freak out about shots. |
We go to Safeway (in VA). Ages 5 & up. |
Kids can easily go to CVS minute clinic. Took my 4 year old and it was super easy! |
We went to the CVS inside our local Target, and our 4yo DD was able to get her shot there. We are in VA. |
Last year I took my 4 year old to CVS for flu shot because I couldn't get a convenient appointment time at his doctor. This was in VA. It was no big deal at all - only difference was they didn't have fun kids bandaids so I bought a box of our own! |
9yo could, 5yo couldn’t. |
The CVS at Target in VA said 3 and up. We got them this year at 6 and two years ago at 4. |
