Just received word that masks during game play are no longer required at the Soccerplex!

Does that mean all of Montgomery County? Or is it just at the Soccerplex?

Mask policy updated 9-16

Wow. MoCo must have changed the rules. Per Soccerplex website:

2) All persons over the age of 2 entering SoccerPlex property must wear an approved face covering at all times when not actively participating in physical activity, including walking to and from the field, in all restrooms, and while on the sidelines. Masks are not required for players on the field of play during games or high intensity practices. The SoccerPlex recommends that masks be worn during trainings and practices when feasible. Individuals may choose to wear masks during games and practices. If so, it recommended that these individuals be substituted more frequently and provided longer rest periods.
The face covering, when worn, must cover the nose, mouth, and chin of the person.
Plastic face shields do NOT satisfy this requirement.

Child abuse? Hilarious. My dd has been playing in a mask for a month and has been completely fine. It’s not a big deal unless you make it a big deal.

I think this is a bad idea. My child is playing without a mask outside Moco. At first I thought it would be fine either way but after seeing the first game I think masks would be much safer.

Maybe within Moco it's okay, but some of the away teams are from places where the covid positivity rate is much higher.

I hope you never need brain surgery, PP - the surgeon will be wearing a mask! And considering that in your case it would be microscopic surgery, you'd really be at risk.

Being an anti-youth soccer masker doesn't make you am anti-masker period. And if we are so dumb, I guess you think the WHO, CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics are so dumb? Go read their guidance on mask wearing for vigorous activities. So sure, these world-class doctors and PhDs and epidemiologists are all dumb and you know better. Right. Got it. And every other county in MD, VA, NY, NJ, etc.

The only tweak the county made to the rule is to say they follow the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations. Geez, we are all so dumb to want to follow that.

If you think it was child abuse, then don’t let your DC play.

Not PP, but you do realize a brain surgeon is an adult, indoors, at prolonged close contact with multiple people in the room, with open body parts and extreme high infection issues, and in a cold, climate controlled room, not a child vigorously exercising outdoors. People can agree to disagree, but some of these points are farcical. This goes both ways BTW. I also think the people saying wearing a mask is child abuse are taking it too far.
