Anyone else notice how weird the sun looked earlier this morning?

| I was out driving around 7:30 am, and apparently the wildfires on the west coast have sent smoke into our sky. The sun looked really weird - it was heavily filtered by the smoke so it was this sharply outlined ball in the sky. It almost looked like the moon, but it was too big and bright for that. It honestly had a dystopian tone to it, like what you’d see in a futuristic sci-fi movie. |

| Yes, it glowed pink this am and was very cool. And yes, it's from the fires out west. The jet stream is bringing some our way. |

WTOP weather was talking about the smoke impact. Apparently today was supposed to have bright blue skies, but the smoke is hazing over everything. |

Same here! Total wtf reaction. I took some pictures because it looked so weird. The kids and I had a total debate for a couple of minutes if it was the moon or the sun. So very 2020. |

Anyone else think the air feels smokey today?
Even if I hadn’t seen the sun through the haze, and I do know it’s the smoke from out west... but I do think my through feels scratchy with dirty air. Am I imagining this? |

| The NYTimes said the smoke reached as far as NYC, so yeah -- I can definitely imagine it reaching here. I thought things looked weird this morning also. |

It looked like that here in the DC area last night too (Rockville). Bright circle of sun and haze all around it. |

I saw the smoke come in yesterday afternoon. It became hazy and strange. The smoke is high so we can't smell it, but we can see it.

| Yes, I noticed this too. The only other times I have seen the sun look like this is during smog conditions in Third-world countries. For a minute I thought I was looking at the moon. |
