Lost my job, and I'm having trouble getting up in the morning. No money = nothing to do. I did 10 sessions with a therapist and he said I'm not depressed. And I don't FEEL depressed. I just see no joy in cleaning the house and doing laundry all day. Does it get better? |
Read a book. A good fiction. Eleanor Oliphant. Or A Dutch House |
No money for books. I should have gotten a library card before now, but such is life. |
Get an antidepressant from your GP. You sound depressed.
Call the women’s center for counseling—job or otherwise. It’s on a sliding scale. |
Not depressed. I just don't see the point in sitting at home all day, depending on someone else. |
Read a classic for free: https://www.gutenberg.org |
Then take a walk every day. Volunteer. |
That's not satisfying. I already do both. |
You can get a card online and then check out ebooks and audiobooks online, see https://www.dclibrary.org/getacard . Listen to audiobooks while taking long walks in the sunshine. |
I think you should allow yourself some time for being a slob and wallowing in self-pity.
Mark it on the calendar, tell your friends. At the deadline, when you see it in your planner and your friends call you, you get back on the horse and go find another job. |
I don't have friends. No jobs here, either. We left DC a few years ago. |
Hugs OP. I’ve been there. One step at a time. Try to go for some sort of exercise every day, even just a walk. |
Run, bike |
google local meetups or groups- i know they may be virtual but that's a start.. sending hugs.. |
Wow! In your shoes I would be depressed too. Imagine living only for your job and now being a nothingburger because you do not have a job.
In your shoes in today's world (and I have been in yours) - I would start taking some free classes online. A whole lot of youtube people make money out of doing nothing and you could do the same. |
