What's the point anymore?

No money for books. I should have gotten a library card before now, but such is life.

Too many websites with free books (and also pirated books!!)

Call and ask your public library if they can send you a card. Also, ask if they lend out digital books. Our library does.

Quit whining. People are losing lives and homes. You are not in that situation. If have been given a golden opportunity to spend this time doing something for your own comfort and pleasure, or for educating yourself, or learning a new skill or hobby - then for GODS SAKE use it.

White people! SMH!!

Mark it on the calendar, tell your friends. At the deadline, when you see it in your planner and your friends call you, you get back on the horse and go find another job.

I don't have friends.

No jobs here, either. We left DC a few years ago.

A bubble bath can do wonders add Epsom salts too for relaxation.

You're lucky you have someone to cushion your job loss. Think gratitude. Then do something purposeful. Stop wallowing. The fact that you are rejecting every suggestion here is a huge red flag you are depressed.

A good long cry can do wonders. It’s like how the park or the ocean appears after a storm—fresh and new.

OP I feel like I'm missing some information here. Do you have a partner who is supporting you?

Either way, hang in there. People have a way of getting "stuck in a moment" where you can't imagine feeling any other way than you feel right now. But things will change. You just won't feel like this forever, even if you can't see it right now.

Is your therapist helping you at all? If not, maybe look for a new one. You sound pretty depressed from here.

You are depressed. Get a new therapist.

You think only nonwhite people have problems? This isn’t the freaking tragedy Olympics in which only dead and homeless people are victims. Grow some damned empathy and quit with your bigoted barbs.

What did you like to do before you lost your job? or even before you had a job? When working your job, did you ever think "wow I really wish I had time to do X".

I think it is easy to feel like you're wandering and lost when you don't have anything to do except for chores. But turn it into a postive. Make a daily list of what needs to get done. Don't go crazy. You don't need to do all household activities in 1 day.

Some examples. Get up and start a laundry. While laundry is going, make some coffee and read a book you got for free (tons of online resources). Throw laundry in dryer and start next wash. While that wash is going, clean one room in house. Or do one chore in house (vacuum, clean surfaces, etc). While last wash is in dryer, do something fun for yourself. Free workout video, a puzzle, paint, watch an episode of a TV show. When the dryer is done, put away the two loads of laundry. Don't do any laundry for the day. At this point, you've done quite a bit. Now is the time to job search.

We lost our home.

And who says I'm white? I'm Hispanic, for the record, and you're a Grade A b*tch.

I literally loved working. Didn't need anything else. Now I'm just a chauffeur and cleaning lady, and there's got to be more.
