Please let there not be school tomorrow!

I know DCPS prides itself for not closing schools, but I hope they will be reasonable!

Your prayers have been answered! There will be no school tomorrow!

Heh - at my house it wouldn't matter if they canceled school or not. There's NO WAY my car is getting out of our alley, hence there's NO WAY my kids are going to school. Hope everyone's enjoying the snow!

Tomorrow is Sunday. Why would there be school?

I hope they have the sense the close school as well.

Why does DCPS find pride in all the wrong things! They need to close schools now so that I can make clear plans for the kids.

Not closing schools is something worthy of pride. It means the taxpayers' dollars are in fact at work. It means children have the opportunity to learn. For many children in this city, it means they will receive a hot meal and a warm, safe environment. You might think these are wrong things to be proud of, but that is only your opinion and it's easy to disagree with you.

I don't realistically see getting a car out of my neighborhood and we are not in walking distance. Ugh.

Not closing the schools when the roads and sidewalks are in hazardous condition is nothing to be proud of. Only very few kids in our neighborhood school are actually in walking distance to the schools and those who are are not in need of a free meal. In the end nobody benefits from it. Many teachers will not be able to come i if they live in the suburbs (which many DC teachers do), so it is questionable if learning will even happen.

I generally agree with you but not when it is my children's safety that's on the line.

Opening 2 hours late tomorrow. Hopefully everyone shoveled their sidewalks, and all the side streets were plowed.

I am a DCPS teacher and I have no idea how I am going to make it in. My streets are a mess and no one has cleared off sidewalks!

i think this decision is INSANE. my child goes charter and they are closed and i am thankful. i hope DC reconsiders in light of the FED decision to close.

Anyone know how best to complain to Fenty and Rhee about this? Our neighborhood is impassible, Metro is still not running buses and the feds are closed. And they are opening on a DELAY? Delays are for when it's a little slippery but expected to warm up. This is insane. Our neighborhood has NOT been plowed and the snow is quite deep. We are not within walking distance and I guess my kid will just have to miss it.
