Our power has been out since early last evening. Brrrrr. Anyone else? Posting from my iPhone, bundled up in west Bethesda.

WaPo reports almost 200,000 without power in the region, so you've got lots of company!

A lot of people in Potoman/Bethesda seem to have lost power. Plus elsewhere, of course, stay warm!!

we are also in West Bethesda but have not lost power...I think it's just a matter of time...

We are in 20814, so far so good, keeping fingers crossed.

The DCUM world headquarters just lost power. The web server should be okay, but the mailing list will be dead as soon as the UPS power runs out.

Cool, power came back on before I could finish this post. Good PEPCO.

We are on the same power line as Fenty. So, PEPCO treats us pretty well.

Jeff - good street to be on
20853 in Rockville is OUT. UGH! All of Great Falls and some of McLean have outages as well..

Are people with below-ground power lines losing power? That's not a possibility I've taken seriously. Uh oh.

I have lived in Montgomery County (zip 20854) for 20 years. Almost every time there is strong wind, we have a power failure. It is amazing to me that relatively minor rain and wind events lead to such prolonged outages, and that Pepco, despite charging massive sums for power, has such fragile equipment and takes so long making repairs.

I agree. We are without power for the 4th or 5th time in the last few weeks, although this one obviously the longest (we had a 10 hour outage about 3 weeks ago). Each time half our block has power and half doesn't. So it's not like the whole neighborhood is out, and in fact this time seems to be just our half of the block. No visible trees or wires down. I am quite sure I am paying just as much as the rest of my neighborhood. Pepco should figure out what the recurring problem is and fix it.
