I’ve been pretty calm but I’m starting to worry. He has a very high fever breaking through Advil and Tylenol, and ankle and knee pain making it hard for him to walk. We are in AA county in MD and they are transferring us to children’s in the am. Everything is coming up negative, covid/panels of respiratory viruses, MRI, chest X-ray, WBC count is normal but inflammatory markers are high. Awaiting Lyme and blood culture results in the am.
I’m not looking for a website diagnosis, I’m just worried and sleep deprived and never thought it would take this long to figure it out. |
I don’t have anything to offer except internet hugs and sending good energy your way. |
I hope he gets better. Is he on antibiotics? My nephew had a fever and knee pain/swelling and it was Lyme. |
How awful. Big hugs from a stranger hoping he improves quickly. |
Thank you |
Yes two kinds. One for suspected osteomyelitis and one for possible Lyme both IV but don’t seem to be touching the fever. Waiting for Lyme test results this am |

Mom of a chronically ill child. |
Adenovirus? |
Thinking of you and your child this morning. I hope you had a peaceful night and your child gets well soon. |
Had something similar years ago. It was the flu. Gave me a Z pack and it went away. Never experienced anything like it again. |
Childrens has amazing doctors and the one good thing is that you are going there during the week when it’s easier access And don’t have to wait for doctors on call. Their imaging / radiologists reads for children is much better than a regular hospital too. Their operations are their downside but if your get the right doctor it’s great for cases like this Advice is to try to get as many specialists to see him today. Have imaging reread. |
Excuse me but z pack doesn’t work for the flu. The flu is a virus and z pack is for bacteria. |
My son had something similar in K or first grade. Legs too painful to walk. I think his best friend had
Mono at the time...no diagnosis if I remember... |
