Teen Mystery TV Recommendations for 12 yo DD

Anonymous
DD is looking for some new shows to stream but is coming up empty. She loved Greenhouse Academy, Get Even, and The Unlisted -- all teen mystery type shows. Anyone know shows similar to those?

No, but my 11-year-old has been watching Poirot episodes all summer long and is kind of obsessed.

Could consider Veronica Mars, or could wait a couple years

She might like Monk. It isn't for teens specifically but is cute.

Love Poirot fan!!!

Veronica Mars did not age well with how they handled date rape. If she watches it, you should watch it with her to talk about the main characters back story as it comes up, op.

Netflix is going to have the Enola Holmes movie.

I don't think they handled it that badly. They made it very clear that the cop she reported it to was a pig. If anything, it is very relevant to what is happening today. Some cops are great and some cops are horrible people. You need to be careful who you trust. It's not like the show made you feel like what happened wasn't a big deal, it just went in line with Veronica's character. She eventually dealt with it herself.

Chuck would be good too.

Other more chaste mysteries would be:
Roman Mysteries
Murdoch mysteries
Miss fisher

Me too. It has a younger more fun vibe than the pbs ones. They eat a lot of tacos and listen to 80s pop. Also strong female chracters (chief of police is great) although the main characters are male.
There’s also that canadian one about a female detective in the 30s but ai thought the acting was a little weak.

The Pinkertons (unfortunately only lasted one season)

My kids (14, 11) have enjoyed watching Murder, She Wrote, but that may be due to (1) a running joke about how Jessica Fletcher actually commits all the murders, and (2) the technology is so painfully old that they are amazed that society could function in such archaic times.
