Hi,
I am looking for recommendations for an IVF clinic in the DMV area. I've been undergoing IUI treatments at Columbia Fertility but would like to move to a different clinic for IVF treatment. I'm 41 years old so really looking for the best place with high success rates. Also, has anyone explored venturing outside the DMV area for treatments for greater chance of success? Thanks in advance for your advice! |

Is your only issue age or do you have DOR, MFI, endo, etc.? If you're a good responder and want to PGT-A test everything, I'd probably go to CCRM. If you have a low AFC/don't expect to get many eggs per cycle, Dominion is known for their natural cycle IVF and has a lot of experience with poor responders. Shady Grove is a factory but works fine for people with "normal" fertility issues, particularly if you're open to donor eggs after a few cycles.
As for traveling out of town, it really depends on what your issues are. CCRM Colorado is known for having one of the best labs in the country. Cornell and a few other clinics in NYC are known for DOR. There are clinics on the West coast that are doing treatments that you just can't find around here yet (aside from maybe in NYC). |
Thanks! I've had 4 unsuccessful IVF cycles abroad (I tried outside the country due to cost issues). Doctors didn't detect any specific issues - I respond well to treatment but have not many of the eggs fertilized probably due to egg quality. A friend recommended Cornell as well. I'm willing to travel to NY if it means that there's a higher chance of success |
I would go to CCRM Lone Tree (Denver) or Cornell in your shoes. You don’t have a lot of time at 41 and with 4 failed cycles, you need the best clinic if you want to keep trying with your OE. The out of town clinics will be more costly, though. The cycles tend to be more expensive to begin with and then the Meds and travel will add a significant amount on top of that. |

10:38 here. I'm sorry to hear that. It's hard, and you're right, at your age it's probably a numbers game. If you're up for the risk, talk to them about doing some banking cycles before attempting transfers. I'd do consults at a few places before deciding on a clinic.
But please know that it's an uphill battle for you. If egg quality is gone, the best clinic isn't going to be able to fix that. It's just about keeping trying until you get lucky or run out of steam. I'm in a similar situation (younger, but with very poor egg quality and premature ovarian failure) and it's really hard to know what the right choice is. Best of luck to you. |
| I would go straight IVF at Cornell and Dr. Davis in NYC. Good luck! My wife found success there twice and she was not an easy case. |

Thank you everyone. Really helpful and the support is so appreciated. I went over the CDC's fertility clinic success rate report and Cornell doesn't have a higher success rate than Shady Grove MD when is comes to women 41-42. I know Cornell has a great reputation but how come it doesn't come across in the report?
Thanks! |
It’s probably the patients they take. People go to Cornell after places like SG tell them they won’t do anymore OE cycles with them. |
+1. Shady Grove is for easy cases. Difficult cases go to Cornell or CCRM. Even if you are on the fence, get on the appointment list for Dr. Davis at Cornell now! The wait can be long and you can always cancel. |
Thank you. That makes sense |
