We are looking for a good home for our Nanny.
She is house trained and works for scraps. Shoe would post for herself but we don't let her near the computer. OK okay...... I just think its a bit degrading for your boss to find a new job for you. |
| When you are looking for a job, it's best to let as many people know you are looking. Why is it degrading that your boss help out? |
| What PP said. Plus, I have a lot of friends with kids - not at all unlikely I would happen to know someone looking for help. If I had a nanny I liked and respected, why wouldn't I offer to help her find a new job? |
The Ads sound like someone giving a puppy away. Really
|
| Then find your own job. In the meantime, some people will take whatever help is offered, and it's really no skin off your nose....so take your nose out of their business! |
Its my thread
IMHO it sounds like some one is helping some one who can't get a job find a job. They felt sorry for someone, hired them..thought I did good. and then decided "yikes the kids are grown and I need to get rid of this nanny house keeper etc.." But the poor deer can't find a job by herself. |
??? Yes, that's what most of us do - we see someone we feel sorry for, so we hire them to be our nanny, then several years later we realize our kids have grown up and we think "yikes, now I need to get rid of this poor 'deer' so I'll find her another job." Boy, you really nailed it! |
| OP should I feel sorry for you if someone if your boss/client recommends you after your contract with them is over? |
| With your spelling, I recommend having someone else post for you and find you a job. |
|
I don't see why you think it is so odd. Many execs get their jobs because a former boss refers them. It happens all the time. Somebody at a company needs to hire a key person, they contact their friends in the industry, one of your bosses responds and throws your name out. Or, the former boss hears that you are looking and sends your resume on to friends that they know are hiring.
I agree that the posts could be worded in a more dignified manner, but there is nothing wrong with referrals. |
Just for the record, I'm still learning English. How many languages do YOU speak? Can you even write in another language? At least you got what I meant... and I'm glad that the spelling is the only thing you have to hold on to because it's clear that you have no response to it. |
| Every time I look at this title I think it says "House Tranny". |
You see what you want to see.

OP is probably bitter because her families have never helped her find a job, she gets fired, or doesn't get good references. Most parents will do alot to help a great nanny find another job and this sends a strong message to future employers about how good she really was at her job. People will give a very good reference for a mediocre nanny over the phone but they will not go the extra mile to post on her behalf or send out the word to neighbors and colleagues.
Its also practical for the future employers. There are so many nannies on the market to screen through and a post from an employer goes to the top of the pile (OP probably ends up at the bottom). |
Two languages, written and spoken. But you are only helping my point. Whether you like it or not, people are more likely to respond to an employer's ad than an ad a nanny, especially one with limited English skills, writes herself. It is just true. |
