| it sounds like the nanny posted that herself, lots of people do this now, because they think it looks better.....but it's just wrong |
Are you counting your mother language? LOL Anyway this is an anonymous forum you can pretend you are whoever you wish. Sorry to break it to you but I'm not a nanny. Me and my husband are both consultants and most of our projects are indication/suggestion/recommendation from previous clients or our project managers. Networking is a huge tool now a days and the professional that is not ready for it might "suffer" the consequences of their choices. Word of mouth is a reality out of the nanny world in case you didn't know. |
I don't know what the difference is between people that post here and in the nanny forum but I posted some time ago there asking if the families prefer to answer posts written by the family or by the nanny herself and it was unanimous: they all said they prefer to answer a post written by the family since it already has a recommendation in itself and it's one less phone call to wait for when going through the nanny search process. Go figure?! |

I have had one nanny over the years who I helped find another job. She was more than a nanny to us, she was extended family, and when I no longer needed full time care for my son, it killed me to have to let her go.
I felt the least I could do was put the word out to all my friends and colleagues that my wonderful loving nanny was available and looking for full time work. If listserv was available back then, I know I would have plastered ads for her services all over it! When an employer does this for their nanny, it speaks to their relationship and gives that nanny far more credibility than anything she could write about herself. In the same way, my VP recommending me to another VP got me an interview without a moment's hesitation. I had to land the job, but my VP opened the door for me. |
| OP, honest question...what is the point of this thread? |
