| Its been a while since there has been a discussion about Wilson and I'm looking for feedback on the new principal. How are things at Wilson these days? |

| I heard the long-time head of the WISP Academy is retiring and, if true, I wonder what that means. You probably know they're off site for a year, next year at UDC, and back by 9/2011 if construction is completed on time. |

| Cahall seems like an ex-coach principal. Ok, but not impressive. The hallways are quieter, but academics have not improved. |

| I would like to hear more too. I smell a sweet, herbal smell when I walk by the bus stop where the kids hang out by McDonald's after school. I get being a teen, but does not make me want to rush to enroll my kid. |

Quieter hallways are an important start, though, aren't they? Like the "broken windows" theory of policing--chaos begets chaos, etc. It's not everything, certainly, but you need order before you can expect widespread achievement. |

| I totally agree with above; I guess I would just like to see an esprit de corps or an ethic. "Proud to be a Wilson Grad". Integrity pushed in and out of class..? I guess I just don't get that when I walk by the bus stop. I hope the Prinicipal can push that a little. |

| I also don't get that pride or healthy spirit by the metro or even when I went for a tour. Thankfully DC has a few more years before HS! |

My high school academically was the best in my state, and I don't think we had any particular "esprit de corps"--and lots of the kids smoked lots of pot. I'm not saying Wilson is performing at a high level, but I also think we may be idealizing HS a bit. |

| Kids smoked pot at my HS and but we had an esprit de corps--we thought learning was awesome and you could tell as soon as you walked in the door. |

| 7:01 may be a troll. If nothing else it's obvious from her question that she doesn't have a kid there. Unless somebody confirms the assaults, I'd ignore her/him. |

| 13:43 again. That's an old article. I do hear from Wilson parents that there've been some incidents but nothing as bad as 2008. I'm concerned about academics, too. How are they academies? Is the head of WISP retiring? And so on ... |
