Believe it or not, NW extends all the way east to North Capitol St. It doesn't end at Rock Creek.

I considered Banneker for my son. It's just up the street from us a ways. But when I talked to a faculty member, the emphasis was all on grades and assessment. This teacher didn't say a word about the educational program. It was a big turnoff. I'm so glad we went with private.

"The segregation is something that jarred me about Deal. The kids are tracked into Math and English classes and they are predominantly white, then you go to the classes that are not tracked and the racial difference was startling. I don't know what the answer is, but it was disturbing to me."

When is the last time you visited Deal? I am an AA parent and I can tell you that segregation is no longer the case there. The students are well integrated. Deal is an example that integration is possible.

PP, that is good to know. I was there in 2008 - not that long ago - and the language classes and history class I visited were most definitely segregated. The english and math class I visited were most definitely mostly white. I should add that everyone I know with kids at Deal are extremely happy, I just know that I bugged me to see the different classes.
